Things like this always make me tear up. That ASPCA commercial, the one with the song "Angel" by Sarah Mclauchlan - I leave the room when that comes on.

I have a friend who works with rescues, she said they don't need people who cry every time an animal gets abused or euthanized. They need people who can put their emotional s**t aside and do something to actually save these babies. Tears won't do it.

I was like- I'm out then. I support by giving cash, cause I'm one weak a$$ b!*ch.

poopsie - I'll be lighting two candles tomorrow. It will be the fourth anniversary of Wendell's passing. I still have his photo up, alongside all the others...still think of him every day.

All my current cats were strays. The others were stray, pound or give aways. I too am a bawl baby when I see those commercials. I always donate at the PetSmart/Petco checkout. I can't even think of an animal shelter/pound without breaking into tears. I remember poor Wendell---so heartbreaking. I just couldn't live with myself if I bought a pet instead of rescuing/adopting. There are so many perfectly wonderful animals that are killed (I HATE it called being put to sleep)

This candle will be burning all day in remembrance of all the shelter animals who never get the chance to know love or happiness or safety...my heart breaks for them

Remembering Wendell, the stray who sadly passed before I could bring him home. You were mine, Wendell, even though we only had two days together.

I immediately started crying when I saw this picture. Yesterday I passed a shelter in downtown Chicago. They had all the puppies in their cages and you could look in the window at them. I wanted to go in and save them all.

I'm at work, but I will definitely be lighting a candle tonight, and giving lots of cuddles to Tuck and Lady my two rescues who fell into my life and i'm so much better for it!

Lady this morning wishing I didn't have to go to work today

I just lit a candle. Blessings to everyone that has rescued.

I'm thrilled to report my sister just this week has rescued her first dog vs going the breeder route, since she lost her two dogs this year. I'm proud of her and her husband. It's their first time and they're so moved with the process and love of the foster rescue organization that they're planning on adding a second rescue pup to their family.

There really is no better feeling than knowing you're helping an animal in desperate need.
