Hi Ladies,

Haven't been here in a long time :smile1:Good to be back!

Question, has anyone remade an old diamond ring into another piece of jewelry? Was it worth it money wise? I have two identical diamond rings I dont like wearing but I want to make into a pair of earrings and I think they'd look amazing.

*Its actually the ring in my avatar*

I recycled three small 14K white gold bands with small diamonds into a new halo setting for a new diamond my husband bought me. A local jeweler specializes in custom designs and uses a 3D printer to make a "mock up" of what he has created before actually casting the item. I found his cost to be very reasonable when compared to ready-made items from other jewelry stores. I'm going to have him create a cuff bracelet that I can set my original diamond into so I can wear it with the new ring. I don't like any jewelry sitting around unused and unloved! I say go for the earrings if they'll make you happy!!

I refurbished one of my Mother's diamond rings. I don't wear rings so I had a necklace made. You keep the sentimental aspect but have a piece of jewelry you'll wear. Not that expensive to have made, either.
Go for it!

We have done this in my family a lot. My engagement ring is made up of a center stone from a ring that belonged to my husband's grandmother and stones from a necklace she owned. When my grandmother passed away, my mom made diamond earrings for me as a graduation gift with two of her stones and now my sister is about to get a beautiful diamond ring for her 21st birthday with a stone from my grandmother. We have a jeweler who makes custom pieces and whose work can be trusted.

When I lost my wedding band, I had a difficult time trying to find a new one to complement my simple solitaire engagement ring. I ended up resetting the diamond from my engagement ring into a new ring that I call my wedding ring. It's an all in one :) I still feel very sentimental about my diamond and wear my wedding ring every day.

It's a great idea. Rather than let it go unworn, you get to appreciate it in a pair of studs, diamond cuff, whatever you like.

I had a pair of studs that matched my princess e-ring but the studs irritated my earlobes. I did the opposite and incorporated my studs with existing e-ring and turned it into a 3-stone e-ring :)
