Red Soho Disco or Red Marmont Matelasse Small

Hi everyone!

This is actually my first ever post. I had been eyeing both bags for a while but I just had the opportunity to buy both the disco and the small Marmont camera style bag. The disco was full price at $980 and I was able to use the saks promo to get the marmont one for $1000. I saw there was a thread for the black versions of these two bags and the OP ended buying the disco over the marmont. I am planning to keep both styles but I don’t want two red bags of the same size.

Of these two shades of red, which should I keep and which should I exchange for a different color?

If anyone has these colors, how have they held up over time?

I only have the red Disco and I really love it! In regards to color I have had no problems with stains, it looks perfect after using it tons and I don't baby it! I did put some applegard spray on it at first tho. The leather has gotten smooshy though so you would have to be ok with the leather not keeping that rectangular shape. The Marmont would be more stiff and retain its shape better I think, so it looks more formal than the Disco. My style is more street casual so the Disco suits me.

Have you read Megs review on the Disco? It's very helpful!

I’ve read so many great things about both bags. I’m able to keep them both if I want, but I don’t want two red bags. I’m thinking of keeping the red Marmont and exchanging the disco for maybe black? As you said the disco is more casual and I would use it when I’m running errands with the kids or what not. The marmont would be like an evening bag or maybe the bag I use during the week and I’m not able to change bags in between.

It looks that way in the stock photos. Unfortunately I haven’t seen any of the marmont bags in red. I’d like to see these two together first I guess before I make a decision. The red of the disco looks so bright and fun at the store.

If you plan for the Marmont to be more of an evening bag, how about getting it in black and keeping the red soho?

I thought about that too, but the black Marmont is now “Pre-Order” at Saks. At my Bloomingdales, they had all three colors of the soho. I’m very torn about the shade of red I prefer over the other. I might ending being a person with two similar red bags.
