Recommendations for a Black designer handbag!!

Hello PF'ers!

I am quite new to collecting designer handbags.. I started with LV and absolutely love my collection. I have all three major prints and some very classic pieces that will be in style for years.
I want to try a new designer, I am specifically looking for a black classic looking bag. I want something for everyday, either a hobo style, tote style or a more structured style like an Alma or Speedy. I absolutely love the black epi Alma MM and the Neverfull MM in black epi, but those are way out of the price range I am comfortable spending.

I am not picky on material (leather or canvas) but I am picky on price - I want something in the $800-$1500 range only.
Some designers I have liked styles of are Givenchy, Prada, Gucci, Burberry and Celine.

Can anyone recommend any specific bags that may meet all the criteria above??

I've had problems deciding on a black bag as well. I don't need one very often but I'd like one with the similar criteria as you have stated. I finally have a black Epi Petite Noe on the way from a re-seller. I hope it is "the one" otherwise I have another black bag that won't get used much. Most black bags are a little boring to me. Good luck with your search.

I find a black leather bag to be much trickier than one would think. Often a bag in a color will not look as good in plain black. For some reason, I think black really highlights the details of a bag like construction, finish hardware, stitching, etc.

LV's Epi in black tends to do black bags justice. I like Ferragamo's black too. The Prada Daino leather also works well for black bags. I think it may be discontinued but the Gucci Sukey in all black leather (not the guccisimo--sp?) is really sharp too.
