Received my classic Stewardess bag and I don't like it

It was listed as the glove-tanned leather $298 version online, but it's the lighter weight version with the smooth leather - it is finished poorly and feels cheap. I ordered it online from Coach.com and I'm in Canada - can I return in store here? I have all my receipts etc.

On the returns description it had a mail option and a return in store option, but I wasn't clear on whether the return in store option applies in Canada.

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear you're disappointed. I had been thinking of finally getting this bag also with the expectation it was the old leather. I bought & returned the "new" Stewardess a few years ago.

Yes you can return online purchases to Coach stores. The only thing is, the shipping and duty fees will not be refunded. Make sure they convert to CDN funds for you. Sometimes, they overlook that you paid In USD.

I don't think so. Call the 1-800 number to inquire first. If they won't refund, then just return at a store.

Did Coach collect taxes & duties? That's usually done by your govt at the point of import. You might want to check if there is some paperwork you can file with your govt.

That's a shame. The recent classics I've seen have had horrible leather, particularly in black. I'm sorry this happened to you. For less than you paid, you can buy an older version on ebay.

Update: I was able to exchange my bag for the glove-tanned leather version at the Coach store. So, I'm happy and and really like the bag now!

Have been thinking about ordering the new City bag but am now concerned it will not live up to the older bags. I found a vintage City , USA. Circa 1993 with the xxxx-xxx creed number listed in excellent condition used a couple times and awaiting its arrival. It is in the beige, taupe color that is discontinued. Hope I love it!

I prefer the vintage and near vintage bags too. I have a 2001 city bag that has the most wonderful leather ever!

I was sent the wrong one - it was larger and the leather was shiny and thin. It was very poorly constructed.

The one I got in store had the glove tanned leather and it was much better in terms of quality. I don't think it's completely on par with the older vintage bags, but it is good for the price imo.

I wish Coach would offer the glove tanned leather on all the Classics, not just the Stewardess. Glad you were able to swap it out.
