Recently I have used 2 large wristlets that I had previously picked up at cheap prices, but in perfect condition, at the resale shops. I feel certain that they were donated by the owners, and priced so low by the shops, because it was a real struggle to zip and unzip them.
I took them home and rubbed some candle wax on the zippers and then zipped and unzipped them several times to loosen them up and now they work wonderfully - no struggle at all.
So if you have been fighting with a difficult zipper just try the wax trick and you may find that your beautiful bag/accessory is perfect again!
I am not suggesting that this is some big deal revelation, a lot of rehabbers have successfully used this cheap, simple method in the past, I am just sharing it in case someone is currently struggling with a difficult zipper. I have also heard of using soap but I haven't tried that.
Here are the items I am talking about, a Coach quilted plum Grammery wristlet 43229 SV PM that I found at the Goodwill for $3.99 and a Michael Kors pink metallic wristlet that was at Savers for $5.99. They were both clean and undamaged and beautiful, but it was really hard to zip and unzip them - now they are just fine; so for $10 - and a really easy rehab - I now have some very lovely and useful accessories!
I am going to keep one of them in my desk at work, so if I decide to go out with friends to a distant restaurant in the city that requires a long walk, I will be easily prepared to bring "only the essentials" with me.
