Good morning all!
My grandma bought a purse online that she thought was
Coach, but when it arrived it didn't look real hardly at all. I can tell it's fake based on several factors, but could someone point out the specifics for me? We are turning this in to the credit card company and they need authentication to process the refund. Pictures are below.
Thanks in advance!
First - we have a dedicated authentication thread at the Coach Shopping forum. Please use it if you need any further authentications.
Did she buy this piece of junk from a Chinese website? And for heavens sake, WHY ??? Coach bags sold in the US don't have Chinese characters on their price tags. EVERY LARGE STAND-ALONE CHINESE OR ASIAN-BASED SELLER IS SUSPECT AND ALL OF THE ONES WITH WEBSITES LOADED WITH "COACH" PRODUCTS AND COACH GRAPHICS ARE SELLING FAKES. Except for their large department store partners, Coach does not allow their new merchandise to be sold on 3rd party sites.
When her credit card company removes the charge she also should have her credit card number and especially her 3-number security code changed IMMEDIATELY, Chinese fakes-selling websites have also been implicated in credit card fraud and ID theft.
As for that purse -
Coach NEVER wraps straps or handles in clear plastic.
The dustbag is fake.
The metal hangtag is fake.
The price tag is fake, see my comments on the Chinese characters. The part of the tag with that Chinese writing and a number should always have the Coach emblem, NOT Chinese scribbling.
The metal Carriage emblem on the front is fake, in the wrong position on the bag, AND crooked.
The lining is cheap and that color and design hasn't been used in Coach bags for 10 years. The PATTERN IS ALSO SIDEWAYS, NOTE THE JOINED Cs ARE VERTICAL INSTEAD OF HORIZONTAL like they should be.
The creed patch is fake, not cut or sewn correctly, and says the bag is made of "the finest materials TRIMMED with genuine leather" when it's supposed to be just leather and say so. The stamping is also extremely poor quality that you'd never see on a genuine Coach and is barely readable even when I know what the words are supposed to be.
There's NO SERIAL NUMBER on the creed patch, a bag from the time period this is copying should always have a number.
The zipper pulls and other hardware were never used by Coach, the strap rings are thin and cheap.
NOTHING about that purse is right. It's a poorly made ripoff. Please convince your gram that if she buys "designer" items from Chinese websites, she's going to get scammed. And if she didn't order directly from a Chinese site, that's where that thing originated, I guarantee it.
NEVER buy name-brand bags without getting them authenticated here first. I hope she can get her money back and her credit card changed without any problems.
