I have been thinking about getting this bag in Amarante.

I normally like large bags. I am wondering if the size and style would work. Does it work for my fellow large bag lovers?

I would also appreciate if anyone would be willing to share some pros and cons of this bag? Thank you

It works for me. I'm 5"2 and have a pomme alma MM. I use it for work, and on weekends with a pretty red summer dress!

You will get a lot of compliments on it. And Amarante is such a pretty, but subtle colour. Its also fairly neutral so will go with most items in your wardrobe.

The only con, is of course, it is vernis. So you have to be careful not to scratch it up against walls...

Currently my pomme alma is my favourite bag. :D

I have the Vernis Alma MM in Blue Nuit. When I was trying to decide which size to get, the PM seemed too small for my needs and I had wanted to carry it more than just for nicer evenings out. I thought it would be a fun bag to carry to various places, including regular shopping at the mall. The MM size is great for all of my things, but because it's a structured dome, it seems big. I'm only 5 feet tall, and it looks a little too big on me. A few friends and family members have said that it's a big bag on me. :shrugs: But it's a beautiful bag and I think because it's a shiny, patent bag that it's OK if it's big, at least that's what I tell myself. I've since bought the Black Epi Alma in the regular size (not the MM) to carry more for some more conservative occasions, and I do have to down-size my things a bit, which is fine, actually, but I figure it's good to have a couple of different sizes of classic LV bags in one's collection. :okay:
Here's a not-so-great modeling picture of me and my Vernis Alma MM. :smile1:

Thanks. Does the bag scratch easily or did you mean that the color transfers?

Thanks for the mod pic. That helps.

With amarante, you won't see colour transfer - unless the transfer ink is light (like a white colour or something).

But I meant scratches. Because it is a high-shine item, you will see marks and scratches on the bag. I haven't scratched the vernis in mine (I have scratched the hardware feet from normal use though). I do baby my bag more than any other LV I own, but I have accidentally hit a wall with it - and scraped it against my car - but no scratches or damage so far.

I have seen others on ebay where they have marks on the corners / sides where they have scratched it. Perhaps do a search so you can see what I mean!

But personally, I wouldn't let that hold me back from buying the Amarante Alma MM. Its so beautiful. I am even contemplating buying it for myself... one can never have enough alma's, right?!

Thanks for clarifying. I checked on LV's website today and saw the bag was sold out in the color I like. I am calling my SA first thing tomorrow to see if they have one.

I really love this bag and it would be my first Alma.

I'm looking to get my first alma too! So this thread really helps. Is the regular size alma available in Pomme or is it just harder to find? Didn't realize the alma MM was such a large bag, I guess comparable to a speedy 35?

I like the vernis alma, but don't care for amarante, so I would pick another color. I also prefer the smaller size. It's such a huge bag and the patent as well - sometimes can be a bit much. That said, in a pretty, low-key color like bleu infinity - it's gorgeous.

What do you use to clean the finger prints off the bag? I know with the high shine some are bound to show on it.

Just a soft cloth, but they come right back the minute you touch the bag again, so it's probably just best to ignore or you'll be wiping the bag all day long. The alternative is any other color than amarante.

I started out by buying the sarah wallet in amarante to see if I could deal with the finger prints, scratches, etc. I am happy to report that the wallet still looks brand new as the day I bought her. I do not baby her and even have my keys thrown in my purse and no scratches from keys.
