Hi everyone, I am currently looking at a couple of LV monogram canvas bags on the resale market, and I am wondering, if I am getting one with a broken handle can I bring it to the boutique and request to change the leather parts without a purchase history? And do they repair bags that were discontinued years ago?

Louis Vuitton currently offers repair services even if you aren’t the original owner of the bag. The repair request needs to be approved by the store and/or by the repair atelier. It really depends on the following: Is the rest of the bag in good enough condition? (Cracks in the canvas usually disqualify a bag from being repaired) Are the hardware, leather type, and/or parts still available to proceed with the repair. You have to bring your bag in the store for assessment and they will give you a quote if the repair is possible.
Good luck!

Thanks for your reply! I have yet to contact the seller for more information, but judging from the photos the canvas portions and the hardware seem alright.

Anyway, if let’s say the leather type is no longer in production (e.g. Monogram Mat Vernis), will they take it in for repair? Is it advisable to bring the item to any random leather repair shop if the boutique refuse the request for repair?

Monogram Mat? I doubt that's repairable (I would love to know if anyone has asked recently). This collection has been discontinued for 15 years and that type of leather hasn't been used since. If the store says they can't proceed with a repair, then you can always contact companies like Leather Surgeons or visit your local leather repair shop.

Thanks for your reply! I guess I will have to go down to the boutique to chat with them about the Monogram Mat too.

The resurgence of the 2000s fashion is reigniting my interests in the LV bags of that era (some discontinued models like the old Manhattan, Monogram Mat and the Suhali leather) which were out of my reach during that time; I was a tween then.

I doubt they would do a repair as they most likely don't have the materials any longer. I had a Multicolor Blanc Speedy I brought in for repair and they couldn't do it as they didn't have the materials to make the repair.

What materials did they not have for this purse? I was hoping to send mine in, the hardware is still good I just need the vachetta replaced

this is awful i was informed lv cannot take a repair for me (reglazing pochette metis) via ups and i would have to travel to a store. Since i am not interested in a vacation right now i guess i am out of luck snd will sell it ugh. Adding airfare and hotel to costs of a repair is insane
