I've lost the key for the padlock on my Keepall and the lock is attached to one side of the zipper. It doesn't affect the functionality of the bag much, but it's annoying. So a few weeks back I took the bag into LV hoping they'd be able to help me, since the locks are numbered I thought they'd have keys in-store. They don't and according to the SA I spoke to the only solution is to use a bolt cutter (or other appropriate tool), cut the lock off and buy a new one to replace it. But she was hesitant to sell me a spare-part since I don't have a Keepall (or other bag with a padlock) in my purchase history, and told me she'd have to check with her manager to get approval. At that point I didn't time to wait for her to talk to the manager, so I told her 'd be back another day.

The Lumineuse I bought 2nd hand last night is also missing it's padlock and it just dawned on me that it might not be straightforward to buy a lock for that bag either, since it's not in my purchase history. Am I "banished" to the 2nd hand market for LV padlocks? Are they really a considered a spare part?

What if the bag you have was given as a gift? Would they still denied you if you need a spare part?
Maybe try a different store?
I never had an issue purchasing luggage tags when I show them picture on my phone of the bag.

That's exactly what I'm thinking too. What if the bag was a gift?

Unfortunately trying a different store isn't an option anytime soon, as we only have one here in Norway, the one in Oslo, and I don't have any travel plans at the moment.

I realized that I do actually have two bags with padlocks in my history, but I bought them in Copenhagen before the store here in Oslo opened in 2007, so that won't help me in Oslo. And I'm not sure if Copenhagen's records go back as far as 2005/6. I guess my best bet is to go back and hope to talk to a different SA. It's not that I have to have the padlock for the Lumineuse, but I think it would be nice for the bag to be complete with all accessories.

For the Keepall I've found keys on eBay for a pretty low price, so I think I'll try to order one with the same number as the padlock on the bag and see if it fits.

Just bring your Keepall in the store with you and they will sell you a new lock and key set. You don’t need to be the original owner but you need to prove you have the bag.

I think she did bring her keepall in to the store to get a new padlock but

Thanks -- clearly I did not read closely enough!

OP - there is no reason for the store to refuse the sale of the lock and key set. As long as you own the bag, they will sell you the repair parts as needed (if they are available!). Just go back to the store: this is not complicated.

Well, according to the SA I spoke to it is, but I'll make another attempt. I'll take the Luminuse to the store next time and see if they're more helpful with that than my vintage, somewhat tatty Monogram Keepall.

Next time, wait until the SA asked the SM to give approval if necessary. Unless they thought your bag was fake? In that case, they wouldn't service it, obviously.

Anyways: good luck to you! I'm sure it will work out fine next time.

I recently purchased a bag that was missing the keys to the lock. I took the bag in the store and they cut the lock off and gave me a new one with no charge. Especially if you have the bag with you, shouldn't be a problem. Good luck!

Hi, I have had my Speedy B 25 DE since September and, have used it only a handful of times but I have noticed that the padlock is now very marked and looks as though it is 100 years old! Has anyone else experienced this? All the other metal parts are pristine. It's only the padlock.
