Question: Redying handbags?

Hello!
A friend of mine just gifted me her used Dr. Q Groovee bag the other day--she said she was 'over' it. I lusted after this bag for the longest time and now I finally have one!! I'm so excited! The only thing is it's blue. I know, don't look a gift horse in the mouth and all but the bag itself is pretty beat up and could do with a little refreshment. Does anyone have any experience or tips on redying leather bags? Could I take it from blue to black?

If you do a search for Tarrago dye, you will find lots of threads, mostly in the Balenciaga forum. I tried it myself, and I just didn't have enough patience to finish it. But lots of people here have had good results.

I redyed a MJ stam. Here is the link. Tarrago dyes are awesome, however MJ's leathers are all different. Mine just happened to take the dye really well and it is still perfect after using for awhile. I would test a spot first.

I've re-dyed 3 different purses, but I've never tried to change the color... that's a whole 'nother can of worms...

I used Meltonan (sp?) shoe polish.. worked like a charm...

Thanks everyone! My friend suggested just taking it to a cobbler or something but if I can do it myself I will. I like having little pet projects to do. Thanks again for all your ideas!
