Hi....

I have question on tax refund.....

The trip will be starting in Paris end in UK....

So if I purchase the item in Paris...do I do tax refund in Paris or last stop of the trip??

I was told I can only do refund at the last stop??

What is the tax refund in Paris & UK? Any diff??

Thanks

You should do the refund in Paris airport. Make sure you have original receipt (not duplicate).

I believe that you need to do when you are leaving France as the UK is not officaially part of the EU yet. As DreamBags was saying, please make sure that you have all the tax forms with the original reciepts plus the items on hand for inspection as well.......... good luck on your H journey..........

If both countries are part of the EU, you go to the tax refund desk with your receipts when you leave the last country. I think Britain is part of the EU although they have their own currency. If Britain is not part of the EU, then you do the tax refund as you leave Paris.

As far as I know, you can have your items bought in Paris, stamped on the way out of UK. I have done that TWICE having visited the 2 places when I go to Europe.

They do have slightly different % refund, but the amount of the refund is stated on your detax form already. It does not matter where you get it stamped, the amount refunded is what's stated on the form.

If you go through Switzerland somewhere in between, you can get your purchases stamped on the way out to Switzerland as they're not part of the EU detax system (provided you find the detax officer). That way you can get your early purchases stamped first, instead of having to get say 50 forms stamped in one go at the end of your trip.
