Question on Giant Day bag leather

Hey there. I bought a BlackGiant day bag and leather is shiny, smooth with distressed, very thin and unlike my city which is think and distressed. Is this right? I bought at Barney's.

Giant hardware bags usually have thicker leather to support the giant hardware but my giant anthracite work has thinner leather than my regular hw ruby work, which is thicker in comparison. It can vary per bag. Also, what year is your city from?

I have an 08 black GSH day and I think the leather is as what you described. The shine is definitely not present on my RH city and twiggy bags. But I don't mind that it's different. I see it as having its own character and it's beautiful nonetheless.

i don't know about the black bags specifically, but when i was looking at GH days at the balNY store, i found a lot of variation between the different colors. the smooshiest, thickest of all was jaune/marigold- it was really amazing leather. i ended up with vert foret which is kind of in the middle- not quite as thick and soft, but not as thin as, for instance, the midnight bag i saw.

i think the thinner leather is still really nice, and from what i've seen of others' bags, softens up over time. it is just about what you prefer.
