Thank you!

Does the gold wear better or worse do you think? It kind of "sparkles" more in the light right? I picture SS as being kind of dull? Which scratches worse?

I guess what I'm wondering is can you tell if someone's is gold or SS by looking at it? Is it worth $11K more?

If anyone has any pictures I'd love to see them too!

Steel and White Gold are 2 different metals.

Steel is very fashionable and of course reasonably priced. It is better wearing than gold. It is great as a metal. It lasts for years! Most rolex watches are steel or steel and gold combination. Steel is a long lasting metal. Nothing wrong with steel.

White Gold is heavier than steel. Gold has a very different feel to steel. It is however more prone to damage. Gold is a softer metal. Gold is better for "special" use as it will damage more easily. Gold has a lovely feel. Gold is a luxury metal.

The steel model is not pretending to be white gold. They are 2 different metals.

The white gold model is a very special piece for the rich.

Steel is much more usable and a great metal.

Personally I think steel is better for everyday use.

SGJ-
My cartier watch is SS and I have worn it just about everyday for the last 7 years. It still looks great. I love the way it looks and wears and have not had one regret. I also wear a white gold love bracelet on the same arm as the watch it was purchased 2 years after the watch and they look lovely together, but the bracelet is scratched and a little dinged. I don't mind much, but it did make me leary about upgrading to a YG roadster for my upcoming 40th.
Good luck with your decision.

i love-d my tank francaise SS...until i slammed it on some tile, and the crystal shattered about a year (or more) ago

it is still running, i can't afford to have the darn thing fixed...or i just refuse to pay cartier's prices

such a shame! it is a beautiful watch...

When you write "ladysize", do you mean the smallest watch or the midsize watch?
There is a small one, a midsize one and a large automatic mens watch.

Does anyone know the prize of the midsize ss one? In my country the retail prize at AD is about 4785 US$ for the midsize and about 4330 $ for the small one. Is that much more expensive than in other countries (the prizes include tax)?

Ladies sizes, the white gold one without diamonds is around $13,000 after discount, SS one is about $2800

This implies a huge discount or buying in the grey market. As others have noted the SS is $3875 and the WG is about $18K for the smallest size in the US, so close to $14K more for the WG.

Hard to say if WG is worth it. I tried on the WG and fell in love with it. It is so much more shiny than the SS and just feels luxurious. But I really don't think anyone can tell its WG. I would like to get the WG but I'm having trouble justifying the cost. So for now I'm just staying with my two tone Tank Demoiselle.
