Hello,

I have a question about the Tiffany setting. Does anyone know since when the ring with the thinner band has been around? Tiffany revised the ring band a few years ago and made it narrower. thanks

From what I remember, I think I started noticing the thinner Tiffany Setting bands in 2016 or 2017. I got my engagement ring in early 2017, and mine has the thicker band. I don’t think there’s a “standard” band width on Tiffany Setting bands since they’re built around the center diamond. It’s more about the proportion of the diamond to band being uniform, and it seems that this ratio changes from time to time depending on current styles or trends.

Former SA here; as of earlier this year there were still some of the older style floating around (at least in the US). Find a more tenured SA and they will know how to tell the difference for you. If you find a stone you love and would prefer a thicker band you can always have it reset.

Not sure if you can answer this, but I’m curious, while you were a SA, was it common for clients to get their engagement rings reset in different settings from their original over time? I go back and forth about wanting to get mine reset from the Tiffany Setting to a round Soleste or Novo. I don’t remember it being an option to reset Tiffany rings when I got mine—back then (just 2017, not too long ago), it seemed like if you wanted a different setting, you had to do the upgrade. But now it sounds like clients can keep their original diamond and just change of the setting?

Yes, I've seen plenty of clients get their ring reset. Take yours into your nearest store and they can walk you through the process, it's not going to be inexpensive though, especially for the pave settings you're interested in. I would also suggest trying your current setting with a Soleste v-shaped band on either side to give a similar effect with less permanent change.

Thanks for the info! I currently have the straight Soleste band as an anniversary ring that I wear frequently with my Tiffany Setting. I’m not a big fan of the v-shaped Soleste bands around my ring, but I appreciate the suggestion! I go back and forth between loving my classic engagement ring to wanting more sparkle. I’ve played around with adding diamond bands to my set, but then I start to feel like they overwhelm my solitaire (it’s 0.58 carats on a size 4.5 finger). I might just be indecisive!

Hi I was just wondering on this - I have the Tiffany true engagement ring (which I love) and getting married next year so looking now for wedding band. I am a big fan of gold and the ring my fiancé proposed with is platinum, do any of you know if Tiffany offer reset in this setting with a gold band? I’m in the UK!
