question about tan and gold togo

are they the same color? or is the tan more brown and the gold a lighter brown / beige? thanks in advance

I am not sure there is such a colour as tan. I have never seen it mentioned anywhere. My friends who don't know Hermes call gold tan. Maybe this is where the confusion lies?

Never heard of tan.
I have a gold togo birkin and it looks tan, though....

There isn't a tan colour, or at least any H colour I know of that translates as "tan". Gold is a (beautiful) neutral light brown that people could certainly refer to as tan. Lots of colour threads in the ref library
