Have any of you ladies had any issues with the magnets on the soft Borough becoming weak and not keeping you bag closed? I would like to know if this happens after some use. I ordered one and received what had either been a floor display or a return. One of the magnets would not hold at all even when the section was empty. I returned and bought another that seems to be better. Of course, now I am afraid of what could happen down the road.

I would love to hear from those who have had this bag for a while. Have the magnets held up well?

The magnets were not very strong to begin with, and I don't think there was any change after the usage of this bag. However, I do find balancing the weight in the middle of the bag helps to keep the sections shut. Hope that helps.

I have a tan and a black for a while now and the magnets are still fine. I am using my black one today, so I posted pics. for you.
The only thing I find that will cause them it to stay open is like the previous PF'er stated, balancing weight. When mine does come open I don't mind since I wanted the ones without zippers since I already have some zippered ones . This soft B style is my favorite for sure.
If I use the slip pockets on back for my phone case/wristlet, It stays open so I just attach to D ring and leave it in bottom. I put a clear cosmetic case in back zipper for pens and makeup. I put heavy things like change pouch and keys in middle section. My saffiano soft wallet works well in front zipper compartment.
Hope that helps. How do you like yours so far ?

Thanks so much for the pictures, they are very helpful! So is the information you write. I didn't think about the weight of things on that back pocket. I haven't used my bag yet. I was all happy about getting a better one the second time, but then started wondering about how secure the magnets are. I don't carry a lot, but like knowing that my stuff is secure inside. ;) Your explanation about how you distribute things among the different sections is very insightful. Thanks again! :flowers:

Glad to help. You are very welcome !:smile1:

The magnets are not strong. I don't think they're supposed to be. I looked at probably 10 different bags when I bought mine (the Earth color is hard to find without scratches or flaws), and the magnets were all the same. If you put tall things in the bag they won't stay shut.

I found that you can't pinch them closed from the top - they won't hold. I flatten my hands and squeeze the whole top of the bag closed with my flat hands and that works better. For me, I don't really mind if they're open or closed - the bag doesn't really gape open either way.

I agree, I don't think they are supposed to be strong. It really does have to do with balancing what you carry and the bag will naturally rest in a way where the magnets will come together and hold the shape.

I don't think they were originally meant to be strong enough to keep the bag closed no matter what.
