Hi all looking for suggestions. I was gifted this constance slim by my husband, but upon inspection there's this two little fingernail scratch (perhaps?). Hard to see in the pic, but there's one I pointed and the one below which slightly longer, under certain angle it's not noticeable. I asked my SA if I could exchange it, and she told me it's not possible, considering how hard it is to get the black slim wallet.
If I request for a return, then it will only be a store credit which can only be used on accessories and SLG which I think it will be a long time to finish the credit, considering I'm not wearing scarf or belt. What would you do in this situation?
I'm hesitant on returning, because of the store credit policy knowing I wont be getting full refund, nor I would be able to use it for getting any bags either, so I'm wondering how often this happens? Is this some kind of return or mishandling by SA or other customer? And what should I do at this point? If I decided to keep it is there anything I could try to buff it out?

Thank you all for reading this and any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

These are the kinds of scratches any wallet will get when opened. But...If the scratches bother you to the point where you'll be bummed opening the wallet, I would ask your husband to handle returning it.

I have returned many things to Hermès and have never been told my credit is restricted to any department. I am not certain that's even allowed.

thank you! My SA has told me that any return for store credit of SLG will not be able to be used on bags. I'm in Canada so I guess different policy from other country? I can't exchange it either since Constance slim is not restocked regularly here.

Based on other comment from other op earlier, it's not that I'm not thankful that my husband gifted me this 😞 but I just hate to think it's a returned item and he didn't know about it when he got it for me. I know it sounds silly.

It's not silly to expect a gift to be new.

It's unfortunately likely that any showing or opening of this wallet (not a return, just even if examined) would incur a tiny scratch on the flap, but also understandable that you want a perfect, new item.

If you haven't mentioned to your husband yet...personally I'd just accept and be thrilled. The mark is so minimal and will probably happen anyway. But you have to do what works for you :)

I agree. Although my initial response was very blunt, I would share the same feeling and it was a means to get past feeling that way:
the initial thrill and pleasure, being tarnished; I would be careful not to mark it myself and disappointment that the first sign of wear was already made.

I wouldn’t think it is a returned item. The scratches can be from your husband’s handling it or from anyone touching it at any point.

I don’t know how the return rules work, but you should return it if it bothers you. I do think if you look at any item you get, there might be a small imperfection like that.

I am sure that if I looked at my last SO closely when I got it (and it was sealed and clearly not a return), I would have found something like that, too…
