Hi all,

I recently bought a scarf ring (among other goodies) in Vancouver, and have decided it doesn't really suit me. I'd like to exchange it-- but I currently live in Berlin, not Vancouver. Can I return an item bought at an Hermes boutique to any Hermes boutique, or would it have to go back to Canada?

I am not sure about the scarf ring, but I have once exchanged a scarf in New York that was bought in Paris.

I don't know about returns though. I've heard of store credit, but I am not sure.
Sorry, not much help!

Charrete, thanks-- you actually were a lot of help, as the glimmer of hope in your reply gave me the fortitude to go in and ask for myself today (I'm new to Berlin, and haven't got a relationship with an SA here yet, and sometimes Hermes can be a bit... frosty, so I was dragging my feet). I found out that I can't return/exchange the scarf ring in Germany, simply because the color and style I bought weren't ordered by German stores. However, the wonderfully helpful store manager assured me that I'd be able to return/exchange it in any country in which it was part of boutiques' stock, with no time limit on the return, just as I'd be able to do with a scarf.

I also learned two equally, if not more, valuable lessons:

1. Never assume Twillies you managed to refrain from buying in the US, and which saved you from your temptation by selling out there, will not resurface and force you to purchase them in Europe!

2. [related to 1] When you go into Hermes intending to undo some spending, you will, in fact, just spend more ;)

Yes, I noticed that too. Funny that!!!:smile1:

I agree...so what did you get?

Lovely! Not seen the lilies one in that colourway

Thanks-- wish I could get a better picture of the color of the lilies with my cell phone. I had intended to get the green colorway, but the colors in this one are remarkable-- the lily pads have iridescent periwinkle blue and lavender, with little glimmers of springy green on closer inspection. Definitely one you can just stare at for a while!
