Now I know I will not get an exzact number for the cost of replacement unless I go to a jeweller in my area but... I was wondering if anyone had to replace their diamond pave lately and knew approximately how much it might cost to replace one itty bitty diamond? My ring is between 1.5 cts and 2.5. One of the links here puts it between 2 and 2.5 but I am not sure since it was never measured by a jeweller.

Its TINY TINY stuff... Maybe a millimeter for one little diamond?

Here's a picture. I'm not sure it will be helpful but maybe... I ask because I am looking to replace one piece that fell out as well as maybe get some better quality pave since my ring came from the navy exchange *embarrassed* But it really is a beautiful ring and I'd like to put a better stone in it later on so I want it to look good!

Sorry for the ramble! I don't want to bug the jeweller have had to go to lately because I haven't had any money to buy and all I ever do is price and I don't want him to think I am annoying! I used to use another but he died sadly around September or Octoberish in an accident moving shop so I cannot use him anymore...

Thank you in advance if anybody is able to give me a ballpark estimate!

I will say I don't know anything but I had a diamond stone replaced (just one stone) and the $150-200 sounds about right. The only thing I would caution you (as it happened to me), we upgraded one stone and we shouldn't have... we should have kept as exact as we could so it matched the rest of the pave.

Good luck!

Well thank you! I appreciate the honest estimate. its going to be very helpful for me. Though I have to say I am shocked that a 1 mm or less stone could cost that much... Goodness! However I thank you for the estimate and I can see it might take me longer than planned to change out the pave lol!

If you are just replacing one melee (less than or near .01 pt), it should not cost more than $100. Granted, I'm located in Iowa but the jewelry store where I work would charge approx. $70-$80 for replacement. Setting the diamond costs as much as the replacement melee.

Do not worry about that. This is why they are in business. A "looker" today can be a "customer" tomorrow if they are treated with politeness and courtesy.

Bagaday: Ahh thanks! So THAT'S whats making it so expensive! Do they charge for each one replaced or just all at once? Because if its all at once.. I may just wait to have the poor thing's tooth replaced and do all the upgrading to something slightly more sparkly at once... It doesn't have to be perfectly cut, insanely sparkly melee... Just a little bit nicer than what is in my ring right now so I have some more shine out of certain light (diffused light?) and the sun ^^

Shanam: Oh certainly! they were very sweet to us on our first visit after my jeweller died and have been nice and polite when we have visited since. I bought my now stolen pearls for them. Its just I ask so many questions about pricing different things. I have two or three projects I would LIKE for them to do eventually.. I just don't have money at the moment so all I do is bug them lol which makes me feel bad ^^'

I appreciate all the responses here! I really do and I imagine the prices will be in line with about what you lovely ladies have given me so far, with the key west price hike of course lol!
