I have some that are 7 or 8mm like this and they're fine. I've had them for a few years and wear them often with not so much as a scratch. They're some of my favorite studs. I imagine you'd have to step on one or bite one or something to dent it. They're pretty sturdy and stud earrings are pretty low impact jewelry.

I'll try not to! :amuse: Thanks for your input!

Slowlikehoney, those are probably some of your mom's favorites. I have an gold locket from my great-grandmother. It is full of dents where each of her children gummed it while teething, including my grandfather. Jewelry with stories is the best jewelry.

She does love telling that story! In fact those earrings have quite a little history already.
Apparently they were the first birthday gift that my dad's father ever bought for my mother and my dad got angry at him for buying his new wife such an expensive gift. (My grandfather was quite a flirt.)
So I think my dad was somewhat gratified when my brother 'ruined' them, though my mom still wore them all the time.
My brother turns 50 next August!
I agree that the best jewelry is jewelry with a story attached!
