Queen Victoria's tooth jewelry collection

It didn't even look like teeth... more like baroque pearls or fresh water pearls  They must have shaped and polished those teeth!! They were so white and similar shaped!

FASCINATING!!!

I would have never guessed that Queen V went around while in private dressed in the teeth of animals her husband shot. I guess you never know what people do in private!

Hmm.. animal teeth--not as weird. To me, that's just like using bone.
Her daughter's tooth: now that's a little disturbing! Especially how they shaped it into a thistle! I wonder what the design discussion for that piece was like...

I saw the picturs. If you don't think about it, it kind of looks like mother-of-pearl.

I guess in those days they didn't do the whole tooth fairy thing.

And as for the animal teeth, it's a bit odd to see so many of them at one time, but nowadays they're still selling shark tooth neckaces. (Granted, they've been fossilized, but it's still a tooth from a shark.)

And, um, you don't kill a shark to get the tooth. Sharks have several rows of teeth that are constantly being replaced.
