The Queen has voiced concern that Prince William should not announce an engagement to his long-term girlfriend Kate Middleton until she has secured herself a full-time job...

Kate is currently working for her parents’ mail-order company, Party Pieces, which supplies children’s party gifts.

I'm not sure the Queen is in a good position to go dissing people who work for the family business.

Let's hope this one is made up. If it's true, whoever "leaked" it might be sending out some job applications of their own!

I don't view Kate as a stable kind of girl (stable as able to keep a fulltime job or be dependable) so the Queen probably thinks that a fulltime job might be a grounding influence on her. IMO I think that Kate has based her life on the belief that one day she will marry Prince William and therefore thinks that she doesn't need to do much.

LOL I hate to say this, but if that is true, regardless of your opinion or mine, that would make Kate an even more traditional "bride" for that particular royal family!

shoot. Isn't her family well to do? even without Wills she doesn't need to do much...But I love that statement if it's true. Definitely one of those oh no she didn't! moments.....

I very much doubt this is true - this is just more stuff to try and rubbish the Queen in my opinion (and yes I LOVE the Royal Family! - but then I am British).

Who knows whether the Queen said it or not. However, if you read up of Queen Elizabeth, even with the role inherited by her, she was/is an extremely harkworking individual who took her "job" seriously. Perhaps proper job was not what she meant, maybe she meant more work ethic or ambition.

If the Queen is telling Catherine (Kate) to go get a job, that's tantamount to telling her she will never be a member of the royal family; that she's a commoner.

I bet this is false.

Besides, the paps will never let her have a real job. They'll chase her around and cause accidents.

I agree. I love the Queen. Shes a hard workin' little no nonsense lady. I think its popular to take anything she says out of context. Sure shes the Queen but she is also a mama and a grandma. She is going to have strong opinions. What mom, grandma doesn't?

she sounds like your average grandma. Doesn't want her grandson with some girl who thinks she is getting a free ride (which she is if she marries this chap)

I think kate's already got a full time job, attending all the royal functions and dealing with the press and paparazzi constantly and doesn't she work a bit anyways for her parents or something- either way she seems like a decent girl to me, she keeps her mouth shut and always looks classy, in the world of celebrity what else can you ask for :p
