Quality Issue? Or Normal wear and tear?

I just bought my first Gucci purse and I am a bit bummed about a quality issue I’m experiencing.

I fully use my purses and I don’t expect them to be untarnished forever.

But should my brand new only carried a handful of times purse already have damage?

I will upload a few shortly. It’s like bad rubbing from where the chain hits the bag. My worry is eventually it may split the leather.

It’s hard to photograph, but the black color/ coating on the leather has come off completely and a gray grainy material is left. It also looks like it may peel more.

Nope, just carrying it per normal. The damaged area is from where the chain rubs this exact spot. Though wear is normal, I wasn’t expecting any this soon.

I finally got to Gucci yesterday. The SA said he’d never seen anything like that before. He offered to lotion it for me but IMO that wouldn’t resolve the issue, I was too afraid that it would eventually tear so I returned it. He is currently trying to source me the pebbled leather version.
