Quality (Gucci vs YSL)

Hi!

I'm thinking of getting a Gucci Marmont in small and my question is how it has hold up with a lot of usage? The other bag I'm eyeing is the YSL-envelope bag, anyone who has both and can compare them quality/material durability wise?

They're both owned by Kering and I believe that Kering makes both Gucci and YSL bags in the same factories (and probably others as well).

To be honest, their quality and durability is probably on the same level.

I think it comes down more to the structural integrity of each design and the materials used.
If the design is poor, then quality issues will come up. If a material is more delicate, then wear will show sooner and more easily.

I will probably go with the Gucci one as I find it a bit softer aesthetically (70s glam). Had a wallet from Gucci many years ago that unfortunately was stolen so it'll be nice to purchase from them again.

Thanks for the info! I am a fairly recent Gucci owner and am eyeing a YSL bag. I have been _very_ happy with my Aphrodites so this is good to know.

I’ve been buying Gucci for a number of years now and absolutely would have vouched for their quality until this month! I have a meticulously maintained and rarely used bengal tote whose shoulder strap literally snapped in half while I was using it. Not overloaded or anything. It looks to be poor quality and thin leather. I’ve never seen anything like this on any bag regardless of brand. To add insult to injury Gucci is completely unwilling to help. I brought it back to the Gucci shop I bought it at and they only offered to sell me a new strap.

I say Gucci hands down. I’m so sad to hear about the quality issue above. One reason I’m such a Gucci loyalist is due to their high quality!
