Purse won’t fit laptop?

For those that don’t have a bag that is big enough to fit a laptop, do you bring your designer / smaller purse and backpack or just carry your laptop?
I work from home two days a week, so I find it easier to have my nice handbag with all my essentials in it and then my laptop bag is separate with my work stuff in it which gets packed and unpacked more!

Then that also works as I get the train to work, the laptop bag can go into the overhead storage while my handbag stays with me so I have access to essentials. For laptop bags I don’t use proper ones, I use my LV neverfull, Longchamp or when it’s nice weather my Chloe Woody tote.

Never mind the size, my work laptop is far too heavy to be carried in anything less than a fit-for-purpose laptop case.

Even in my briefcase, I'll only take my iPad (although I have carried it in an H Evie and other bags)

A laptop bag or a backpack all the way! For my personal items I carry a designer bag but in the long run, I don't want to strain my more expensive bags even though many of them do fit a laptop. I did carry my laptop in my Boss tote for 3 weeks for the one bag challenge but I did feel sorry for the bag.

I used to use a laptop bag every day (I work in tech) but now I'm pretty much 90% remote, I use separate bags. I tend to use a Longchamp bag for my laptop and tech bits and papers, with my laptop in a padded sleeve. Then I carry whatever handbag I like for my phone, keys etc. I tend to use a handbag that can be carried in the hand so I can carry my laptop bag on my shoulder. Having said this I just got a Mulberry Millie in the sale, and it's HUGE and can easily accommodate my laptop - I wouldn't use it every day like this, but for the frequency I use it, it's fine - and the shoulder straps are still fine even with work kit in it - again laptop in a sleeve.

I have a padded laptop sleeve that fits in a backpack, messenger bag, or travel tote (sometimes my medium Telfar). Most of my handbags don't fit my laptop (15" Macbook pro), but many of them fit an iPad should I need to carry that.

My work is hybrid in-person/remote and I have a dedicated desktop in the office, so I really only take my laptop with me when traveling or if I want to work from elsewhere. If I am taking a workplace-supplied laptop or tablet to a meeting, it has a dedicated carry case so it's separate from my handbag.

My laptop is far too heavy and big to put in a handbag. I carry my handbag and a tote bag for work stuff. Even then, laptop narrowly fits.
Aside from that, I am a compartmentalizer. I keep my work and private life separate. I only use my work tote for work.

I prefer carrying only one bag instead of a separate laptop case so I use a work tote. Currently I am using Stella McCartney's logo tote which holds lots of stuff (which is wonderful).
