I purchased a Gucci Marmont from TJ Maxx last year in June. I’ve never purchased a Gucci but everything looked good on it, in my opinion. I never used the bag so I decided I would like to sell it. In order to sell in a Facebook group, I need to show authentication. Reached out to Dr Runway to find out it is a Counterfeit bag. I’m distraught. I’ve never purchased a bag from TJ Maxx but people say their stuff is real and I paid $1200 for this bag. I’m not even sure what to do from here. I sent an email to TJ Maxx and have all the photos of the bag, receipt and stuffing and everything it was shipped with.A4DBFDCB-621B-43A8-8D63-08D3AD9B0ADF.png

I am sorry that you are experiencing this. You have already reached out to TJ Maxx, I would guess recently? I am interested to see their response.

The problem that I see unfortunately, is the passage of time since you purchased this. TJ Maxx could say that this has been in your possession for so long that this is not the bag that they sold you. I imagine the photos are recent, not from when you first bought the bag.

Again, I am not saying that you have been dishonest but that TJ Maxx might say this.

I hope that TJ Maxx responds to you in a satisfactory manner. Please keep us posted.

I'm so sorry you're distraught! I have to ask, is it possible to have the bag authenticated by another party just to confirm what Dr Runway are saying? I have never heard of TK Maxx or TJ Maxx selling fakes. It wouldn't hurt to have someone else have a look to be sure.

I submitted for authentication of Zekos Authentication last night and it takes about 24 hours so now I wait for that and see. I’m praying Dr Runway was wrong but I’m so distraught by the whole thing. Do I even trust selling the bag now even if Zekos says it’s authentic or go for a third authenticator? It’s just all so crazy and I’ve purchased Gucci belts from TJ Maxx and now I’m wondering if those are fake too. Im on a downhill roller coaster. I would never ever purchase a fake of anything and Im so against other people doing it that I know. It’s so disturbing.

I am waiting for a reply from TJ Maxx also since I did send an email yesterday. If I don’t hear back by tonight or tomorrow, I will call Customer Service and ask for their fraud department or Supervisor to see what they could do. I’d like to get the Zekos authentication back and if it is confirmed counterfeit, I’d like both of those to prove to TJ Maxx what they sold was in fact counterfeit.

TJ Maxx might say this but if I was being dishonest, would I really wait over a year to contact them if I knew the bag was counterfeit and was pulling a scam myself? I wouldn’t think any scammer would do that, they would try to send it within the allotted return period to pull a fast one.

I think this is a great plan of action.
Just a note to keep in mind- you emailed them on New Year's Day (and on a weekend). The staff would have been off for the day, so don't stress if they don't reply first thing. Since you're waiting for the authentication and you know your next steps, try not to get more distressed. You'll get a resolution, somehow.
So sorry you're dealing with this. It would seriously stress anyone out!

Not to add additional worry, but there was an active thread here on TPF where a lady was returning inauthentic handbags to major retailers. I am sure you will be able to locate the thread. She was eventually arrested. I am almost positive TJ. Maxx was a major target of her’s.

Thought you could use this information to your advantage when discussing with TJ Maxx.

I looked her up here on the forum. Loukpeach. Sh i ven worked at an elementary school. Crazy that she got away with her scam for so long. I seem to recall she even posted here on the purseforum. I found her bale but keying in TJ Maxx and fakes in our search feature.

I'm so sorry.. I don't know if you're familiar with the eBay forums but..
There's a designer handbag board, a member there, Jsales is very adept at authenticating Gucci.
Now I realize this will NOT be official enough for selling the bag but perhaps could give you a little stress relief on whether the bag is indeed counterfeit or not until you get your second opinion.

Try not to stress too much; I know it's a lot of money but best case Dr Runway made a mistake, worse case; I would vehemently pursue a return & refund from TJM.
Again; really sorry you're going through this.

So far Zeko’s responded they cannot authenticate and only do Chanel. TJ Maxx contacted me last week Tuesday requesting specific photos. I sent over 25 photos and I’m still waiting to hear back from them. I contacted them again Friday and they said they are still waiting on their authenticators. I just want my money back.

I do believe it is a super fake after watching some You Tube videos. The stitching on the strap is TOO PERFECT and there’s no imperfections at all which is what one You Tuber said about it. Also the R stamp on the inside tag should not be indented as much as the “made in italy” stamping and it’s identical. Another thing, the second row of numbers on the inside stamp should be 4 or 6 digits. Mine has 5 digits. Also there is a code tag on the inside bottom of the bag and it’s supposed to look like a QR code but it doesn’t really look like a full QR.

I thought about trying to authenticate with Real Authenticators but I’m going to wait on TJ Maxx to see what they say first.

Good luck and I’m sorry this happened. I hope TJ Maxx is able to refund you if they deem it a super fake. What a bummer. More and more or feels like the only way to assure authenticity is to purchase directly from the boutique

Update. TJ Maxx says the bag matches what they shipped me and believe it to be authentic but they have offered a full refund which I’ve already responded to and asked for since I’m worried I will have issues selling it in the future especially since I can’t fully trust them that this is authentic especially after looking at Super Fake videos on You Tube. I don’t trust that this is authentic at all.

Now I wait for them to respond to me on how I can return this and get the full refund, or how long it’ll take.

I appreciate all your help. I’ll keep you updated once I get my refund or if there’s any issues.

Although TJ Maxx and Marshalls stores with Runway departments get their items from legitimate sources, there have been many cases in which dishonest crooks bought genuine items and returned fakes. It's possible that @pinkgirl713 could have received a switcheroo bag.

For those who have time and the stomach, here's the Loukpeach thread.

Long story short, she bought $1M worth of designer bags from TJ Maxx online and would return fakes to their stores using the legitimate receipts from her genuine purchases:

I'm very sorry for what happened. Like others said, I believe this is a case of a dishonest customer buying a Gucci bag and returning a fake instead. It's great that the CS agreed to refund you. I advise to check all the other items you bought from them over the years. Just in case.
