I've been on the hunt for a navy Gucci disco soho and I finally came across one online on Snobswap. I was pretty happy since it was in brand new condition and the asking price was $875. I made an offer for $750 which was accepted and since I was a first time user, Snobswap gave me an extra 15% off bringing the total to $672 with shipping to Canada so needless to say, I was pretty happy and looking forward to getting a navy disco.

I am a long time user of this forum and almost always use the authentication sections before purchasing bags online. This time I jumped the gun and purchased the bag before getting an authentication. I did this mainly because Snobswap has a 100% refund on all fakes guarantee and I was told by an online assistant that they check all merchandise and authenticate items before selling them online. So I took a chance and bought the purse.

I was able to find more pictures of the bag from the actual retailer used by Snobswap. They are a boutique from Brooklyn New York called Designer Resale NY or http://designerresaleny.com. I checked out their polished website and found more pictures of the bag I purchased and decided to post it in the authenticate section in the Gucci forum. Shortly after GhstDreamer said the bag was a fake.

Naturally I was very upset as 672.50 US ends up being $890.00 in Canadian dollars and a hefty price for a fake bag. I got on the phone with Snobswap and asked them to cancel the order immediately and refund the money. Snobswap let me know they would investigate the claim and stop the order immediately. I still demanded that they investigate on their own time but give back my money as the bag was yet to be shipped. Snobswap agreed and within 2 days, I received money back into my account. Unfortunately, due to daily exchange rate changes, I paid $890 in Canadian dollars but received only $840 Canadian dollars, making my loss at $50. Although much better than loosing $900 for a fake bag, I still emailed Snobswap and asked them to pay out the difference since they claim to guarantee authenticity on all their items but still sold a fake on their site. I therefore believe it is their responsibility to make up the difference. I am currently waiting for their response and will update this post when I receive a response from them.

Overall, I was happy with the relatively quick way Snobswap refunded most of my money and I am hoping they take the extra steps to ensure that I do not lose any money due to purchasing a counterfeit item through their site. I am also very grateful to purseforum and especially the authenticators who have saved users from losing their hard earned money.

I'm so sorry you went through this. Even with the refund, it's obviously such a disappointment and any time with a fake is too long.

Well done for standing your ground and even more so for the warning, I hope this will stop others from doing the same

Unfortunately that site has several discos on sale right now that are fake as well. :-s OP I hope you get the difference back. It sucks living in Canada with our dollar being so low.

There aren't that many discos I've authenticated to be real unfortunately. I believe there are a couple of factors as to why there are sooo many disco fakes - it's an extremely popular style so of course there are a ton of counterfeits. Also the style is classic and not fussy with details and so it's much easier to produce a counterfeit of it and it doesn't cost the illegal counterfeiters much money to make.

I noticed the other Gucci Discos on Snobswap from the same seller and was pretty disappointed that they did not take it off their site. I am also still trying to get Snobswap to reimburse me the $30 USD that was lost due to the exchange rate but so far they are not willing to pay out the difference. I also pointed out that they still have 2 disco bags on their site from the same seller (designerresaleny) and perhaps they should consider taking them down so somebody else does not go through the same ordeal.

Thanks again for your help. A loss of $50 CAD is so much easier than almost $900 CAD.

Im sorry you had to go through that, sounds like such a hassle...There are wonderful authenticators here in the forums so luckily it was caught before shipping....it does seem fair that you get the extra money back, I hope to works out!!! I only shop a few reseller sites and have seen a few discos there. AFF had a fuchsia sitting there for awhile, I thought it would be snapped up right away....They go quickly on yoogi closet but maybe check there .....

Hi, I am new to the site but was researching gucci disco and came across this thread. I have called the Gucci outlet before and they told me sometimes the outlet bags are slightly different than retail which was interesting. They do carry the disco. As a long time shopper of secondhand designer for a very long time on eBay, consignment stores, TRR, and in the past year on snobswap. I usually have everything authenticated for peace of mind because I have been burned before. I have purchased a several items from the snobswap and all of them have been authentic. Thank goodness. Their customer support is also great so I'm glad to hear they treated the situation professionally which is consistent with my experience. Wondering if you have a professional authenticator give you a second opinion on the bag by chance? If it's a bag I really love sometimes I will get a second opinion from expert authenticators and there were instances the second opinion determined the bag was actually authentic. Just a penny for your thoughts next time. Hope you found a great disco bag.

Hi. I see this thread is s few months old I hope it all worked out good for you with the monies owed and if you were able to eventually purchase s real disco bag.

When it comes to Gucci I tend to try to get iin on a sale from designer stores or by visiting an Outlet. But every so often when I feel a need I will post it on the authentication thread.

I did however get a wallet many moons ago (before joining this forum). I tried it get it authenticated here; but was unable to get verification. But that's ok because it was a gift lol. It is still sitting in a box in my closet. I believe an authentication service wanted $120 to authenticate the wallet but since I got it for free I will pass. One day I guess I will use it.

That's crazzzzyyyy!

Castira is $7.50, I recommend them for when people need written assurance: http://castira.com/authentications/

Ok I just submitted a fee of $10. I guess the price went up. But that's great compared to what I was originally told by another authentucator. I'm just waiting to hear from them so I can submit my photos. Thanks again. :)

Sorry to say there are no discos made specifically for the outlet. There are bags made specifically for the outlet and those are easy to tell. Any discos you see at the outlet would have been sent to the outlet from the store.
