I've been on the hunt for a navy Gucci disco soho and I finally came across one online on Snobswap. I was pretty happy since it was in brand new condition and the asking price was $875. I made an offer for $750 which was accepted and since I was a first time user, Snobswap gave me an extra 15% off bringing the total to $672 with shipping to Canada so needless to say, I was pretty happy and looking forward to getting a navy disco.
I am a long time user of this forum and almost always use the authentication sections before purchasing bags online. This time I jumped the gun and purchased the bag before getting an authentication. I did this mainly because Snobswap has a 100% refund on all fakes guarantee and I was told by an online assistant that they check all merchandise and authenticate items before selling them online. So I took a chance and bought the purse.
I was able to find more pictures of the bag from the actual retailer used by Snobswap. They are a boutique from Brooklyn New York called Designer Resale NY or http://designerresaleny.com. I checked out their polished website and found more pictures of the bag I purchased and decided to post it in the authenticate section in the Gucci forum. Shortly after GhstDreamer said the bag was a fake.
Naturally I was very upset as 672.50 US ends up being $890.00 in Canadian dollars and a hefty price for a fake bag. I got on the phone with Snobswap and asked them to cancel the order immediately and refund the money. Snobswap let me know they would investigate the claim and stop the order immediately. I still demanded that they investigate on their own time but give back my money as the bag was yet to be shipped. Snobswap agreed and within 2 days, I received money back into my account. Unfortunately, due to daily exchange rate changes, I paid $890 in Canadian dollars but received only $840 Canadian dollars, making my loss at $50. Although much better than loosing $900 for a fake bag, I still emailed Snobswap and asked them to pay out the difference since they claim to guarantee authenticity on all their items but still sold a fake on their site. I therefore believe it is their responsibility to make up the difference. I am currently waiting for their response and will update this post when I receive a response from them.
Overall, I was happy with the relatively quick way Snobswap refunded most of my money and I am hoping they take the extra steps to ensure that I do not lose any money due to purchasing a counterfeit item through their site. I am also very grateful to purseforum and especially the authenticators who have saved users from losing their hard earned money.
