Hello.

I'll be taking the bus or metro from Printemps in Blvd Haussmann to Hermes FSH and George V store.

Please help me with specific directions. I know i can ask the hotel but i'm thinking of buying a Paris Visite Pass. And i'm planning out days and times as of now.

Also, is it wise to take a taxi around Paris instead of the Metro / Bus? We are a family of 4. Please also tell me about Paris taxis as what their saying on the internet is contradicting. some say easy some say forget it.

Thanks!

Don't take a taxi or the metro from Printemps to FSH, just walk. It's pretty close.

Depends on how crowded the streets are – if you walk in a fast-determined manner, probably 15 mins. With "human baggage" in tow and being distracted along the way, more likely 20-25 mins, but it's nice to walk around if it's not pouring.

You can also walk to George V from FSH quite easily – again around 20 mins, but it's slightly uphill all the way, so unless you have sensible shoes, your feet will hurt from all the trekking.

The distances are somewhat too close to justify taking cabs, but hey, there are 4 of you. If you don't get the visitor's Metro card, you can always buy in 10s in a carnet – saves you some over the regular single ticket prices.

yes will do that instead of getting the Paris Visite pass. still trying to compute if the visitor's card is worth it.

how about the Madeleine stop? don't wanna trek uphill.

thanks so much chuck75!

how accurate! 8 mins is quite doable and with all the shops and cafes around i guess the .8 km will breeze right by! i think i'll get my kids to eat chocolates along the way.

i was thinking the shortest way from Printemps would be Rue Tronchet then Place de la Madeleine then Rue Royale. I think Hermes is at the corner.

Have fun and good luck baileylab~~~ You've got wonderful directions from everyone here you'll be just fine~~

I also found this site very helpful , in case you feel like going to visit more places, this site tells you how to get from point A to point B!

http://www.ratp.fr/

just click on the British flag in the upper right and you will be directed to the English version.

thanks boo169. i have yet to master the ratp thing. i got directions via bus (#80?) because you never can gauge the distance with maps.

i wish our world will be filled with TPFers - people are so helpful whatever religion they have (or not).

Wow, it felt a lot longer when I did the walk, but from FSH to Printemps instead. But that was on Christmas Eve and the pavements were thronged. Plus I got distracted along the way.

FSH to George V is quite some ways longer then. And it's uphill. But you get to stare at the Arc de Triomphe all the way while you're walking! ;)

Laduree is on the way on rue Royale... so your boys might be eating macarons instead! On the subject of macarons, I prefer the Pierre Herme ones (more unusual flavours) – he has a shop on rue Cambon, just a few of blocks from FSH. And rue Cambon is the mecca for Chanel fans, just FYI! :graucho:
