Hi everyone,
So I have a brand new white multicolor Murakami Carryall and am terrified of color transfer. Is it worth spraying the actual canvas with something like apple guard??? I know everyone says to just wear it with light colored clothes, but in the event events that I forget and wear it with something dark, I want to have as much protection as possible.

I have a white coated canvas Alma with vachetta leather straps/trim. I did a small patch test on the leather and then proceeded to coat my entire bag with collonil leather gel. So far, no colour transfer and the leather looks good. 😊

For canvas pieces, baby wipes are key! Just make sure they don’t contain alcohol (most don’t). I wore a DE piece with very dark denim and the color transfer was even noticeable on that. I tried a wet, soft cloth, but no luck. Then I remember the baby wipes trick a consignment store shared with me; it’s what they used to spruce up bags before displaying them. All of the denim came off! This is now how I clean all my coated canvas pieces. The DE incident was about 10 years ago and that bag has been cleaned with baby wipes many times since. Still looks like new!

Oh gosh, I saw a youtuber years ago that put Apple Garde on her vachetta but did not mask her brown monogram canvas and over spray on the monogram canvas and made it shiny! I saw other Youtubers do it tho and nothing seemed to happen with theirs. Perhaps that one youtuber sprayed too much? I ALWAYS cover my canvas to make sure spray doesn't it on it as I dont take chances. Lol. I had a vintage white multicolor Speedy 30 and I currently still own a white multicolor Judy. Both bought pre-owned and beautiful white multicolor canvas. No color transfer and I did not spray anything on the canvas. I do put on leather conditioner on all my LV canvas, including my white multicolor and my black Alma Multicolor tho. It's a conditioner NOT a cleaner. I use Kate Spade as there are no waxes. Been using it for years. No issue. To "clean" my canvas I only use Babywipes, one that doesn't have oils or extracts or alcohol. Congrats on your new Murakami!

Oh, you got the white MC carryall. I did consider that bag as well but it is too much white and too much vachetta for me. Personally I wouldn't do anything to it. Just be mindful of dark denim. Then baby wipes when the bag shows dirt or color transfer. Otherwise leave it as it. I think it will be just fine.

Enjoy yours. It's a beauty!
