Has anyone seen this article on the fashionable housewife website? Article is titled, should you buy Louis Vuitton replica purses. Just unbelievable

Unbelievable! And the encouragement/advice to try to find a "high quality replica" instead of a "cheap knock off". Same thing. They're all counterfeit. SMH

She uses replica & "reputable seller" in the same sentence. Sellers of replicas are NOT "reputable" based on that fact alone. UGH!!!!

This type of thing really drives me batty and gets my blood boiling!

I don't like but can live with a manufacturer making a close approximation of a bag. That is "accepted" in fashion and brands like Michael Kors make millions doing it.

What I CANNOT tolerate is fakes and knock offs. That is blatant theft. And anyone who carries a fake is an accessory to the crime. How can anyone say this is ok??? Would they buy a fake BMW? Fake baby formula? Fake wine / liquor? A fake college diploma? Theft and lying are wrong and buying a fake purse and lying about what you are carrying is pathetic. It's just a purse. Is it worth sullying your character for?

Absolutely, lovingmybags! A young lady I know once told me she wanted to buy a fake LV as she couldn't afford a real one. I told her to get herself a genuine Longchamp Le Pliage...

That is disturbing and illegal. Why would someone advocate doing this? Buy something in your price range that is legitimate or save up for the one that might be out of your price range.

From my recent experience..... :noggin:

I inadvertantly bought a counterfeit Kate Spade at a VOA thrift shop. As soon as I got home I posted a pic on another thread then settled down to research the bag's pedigree.

Arrrggghhh! As soon as I realized I'd bought a "replica" (counterfeit) KS, down came the pic and I took my scissors to the offending label and nameplate. Yet even shorn of it's fakery, the bag made my skin crawl just looking at it. So out to the burning barrel it went.

If I could feel so guilty over buying an eight dollar fake, how can these misguided women feel good about spending far more for a bag they know is counterfeit?

With reference to particular blog linked, I don't believe the author understands that selling (in some countries, even owning) counterfeit designer bags is illegal.
It is presented as just another option for "fashion savvy housewives."
It seems someone has left a comment, letting her know about this epic fail.
Maybe others will do so, also?

I couldn't agree more, ladies! When I couldn't afford the Dooney I loved, I bought a different bag at a lower price by Franco Sarto. The two bags were alike only in that they were both black with brown trim. Next came a Ralph Lauren nylon tote from the clearance rack that was the same color combination as the Dooney I coveted. :tup:

Finally the day came when I could buy the Dooney of my dreams. :yahoo:

It felt like such an accomplishment. And I still had (have) the Franco Sarto and the Ralph Lauren that came along on the journey. :party:

So in my long winded way, what I'm trying to say, is that these women buying replica bags miss out not only on the journey, but the pride they could take in accomplishing a goal.

I had to calm myself before posting! I agree with all the above, and especially with QueenLouis; "buying replicas from a reputable seller", how ridiculous!! It saddens me too, that a person's self worth would be so tied to owning a designer bag that to impress others they would buy a knockoff. When I see people wearing counterfeit bags, it makes me think everything they have on is fake, including their jewelry!

Very true, jellyfish. There are loads of threads on this subject. But there are also members new to tpf who may not realize these threads exist. But thanks to your efforts, they do now.

I think this thread is different enough to justify the OP starting it as it is specifically about a blog promoting this. If she posted in one of those other threads, the message about the blog would be random post #537 or something that no one would notice. Plus people also get accosted for replying to threads that haven't been replied to in ages. Rock <-> hard place.

Not being a housewife nor someone who reads blogs, I'm not familiar if this is a very popular one.

Much like people in the sub forums are asked to help report fakes on eBay, I can see this as a way to generate some comments directly on the blog too.
