I posted this in the clubhouse but it may get overlooked there so I started a new thread.

Anyone who has the Brick Carlyle...how's the leather holding up?

I was so excited to find "one" on clearance (50%/40% off) and did a charge send. It arrived today in the box all by ITSELF, no tissue paper, absolutely nothing!! (and was missing the dust bag which i know is not a guarantee when buying from an outlet). Anyway, was so happy with the color but as I pulled her out of the box, I noticed on the front left side there's an obvious light spot. Upon further inspection, there are about 5 spots where the color seems to have peeled off. The turnlock looks a little worn but it might actually suppose to look that way - not completely sure but that's really not as big a deal as the leather color peeling off.

Would love to hear back from other Brick owners to see how their bag is doing after some use. I'll have to think if she's gonna be a keeper.

Thanks!

Oh...I called the Coach store that did the charge send. The manager apologized as the bag should have been at the very least, wrapped in tissue. There are some "trainees" and she was going to address it.

I have carried mine for about two weeks now and have no problems with leather. It even got some rain on it one day and rain didn't affect it at all.
Can you post pics of these light spots?

I have to apologize, I own Grommet duffle not Carlyle, same color but mine is Bleecker leather which might be different, thicker leather.

It looks like Carlyle has thinner leather that can get damaged easier. I would try to exchange your bag as it's definitely defective and shouldn't have these kind of damages no matter what.

No problem! I agree with you - I'll have to see if I can find another one. I don't even think it can be repaired. I have been eyeing up the Grommet Duffle. It may be too deep for me though.

I've used my brick grommet Carlyle many times over the past few months, and even though the leather has softened there are no white marks like that. Looks like the top layer of color has been scratched off. I would return it. Hopefully they can find you another, its a great bag!

Mine has a spot like that on the piece of leather that the hang tag hangs from. I ordered the bag by phone from a Dillard's in another state, and the SA told me about it on the phone before I committed to purchase, so I knew about it in advance. It doesn't bother me at all, and there's no other spots like it anywhere else on the bag. I've been carrying mine for weeks straight and the entire bag still looks brand new, so the leather isn't wearing weird at all.
