  1. I've been using Google today and everytime I search, EVERY link comes up with that "This site may harm your computer" warning under it. Even when I Google "Google", it says that its own site will harm my computer

Is this a glitch that Google is having today or am I the only one that's experiencing this?

  2. I'm experiencing it too and i'm in the UK.

I've decided to use Yahoo search engine today even though i hate it.

It's been driving me nuts too!!

But, I just now tried searching and it all seems to have gone back to normal now!

  4. It's not just you, it did this to me too today (while I was trying to do some research, grr).

  5. me too!!!!UGH!ANNOYING!

  6. Strange! I just tried it out and it's working fine for me.

  7. I'm experiencing no problems at all, haven't gotten that message.
But I have really good spyware program in my computer that
keeps it 100% clean, so maybe that has something to do with
it. Maybe it's your spyware or virus program (if you all have the
same one) acting up, or maybe the computers have been infected
with something. IDK. If it were happening to me, first I would delete
temp files, clean the cache, and then I would run a scan.

  11. From the Google blog:

"This site may harm your computer" on every search result?!?!

    1/31/2009 09:02:00 AM
If you did a Google search between 6:30 a.m. PST and 7:25 a.m. PST this morning, you likely saw that the message "This site may harm your computer" accompanied each and every search result. This was clearly an error, and we are very sorry for the inconvenience caused to our users.

What happened? Very simply, human error. Google flags search results with the message "This site may harm your computer" if the site is known to install malicious software in the background or otherwise surreptitiously. We do this to protect our users against visiting sites that could harm their computers. We work with a non-profit called StopBadware.org to get our list of URLs. StopBadware carefully researches each consumer complaint to decide fairly whether that URL belongs on the list. Since each case needs to be individually researched, this list is maintained by humans, not algorithms.

We periodically receive updates to that list and received one such update to release on the site this morning. Unfortunately (and here's the human error), the URL of '/' was mistakenly checked in as a value to the file and '/' expands to all URLs. Fortunately, our on-call site reliability team found the problem quickly and reverted the file. Since we push these updates in a staggered and rolling fashion, the errors began appearing between 6:27 a.m. and 6:40 a.m. and began disappearing between 7:10 and 7:25 a.m., so the duration of the problem for any particular user was approximately 40 minutes.

Thanks to our team for their quick work in finding this. And again, our apologies to any of you who were inconvenienced this morning, and to site owners whose pages were incorrectly labelled. We will carefully investigate this incident and put more robust file checks in place to prevent it from happening again.

    Thanks for your understanding.

  12. I got that message when I tried to get on makeupalley.com! I was like "say whaaat?" but I closed it because I don't want anything to harm my beloved computer. lol. I'm glad everything is back to normal.

  13. Whew..I thought it was just me and I accidentally changed some security setting or something!

  14. my mom got the same message this morning and she woke up my sister to ask what was going on but my sister was too asleep to answer her so she called me on the phone and asked me for help. I didn't know what was going on because it was working fine for me so I couldn't help her but after an hour she called back letting me know everything was okay.

i guess everyone this morning must have experienced this except for me and a few others I suppose.

I wonder why some people saw the warning and others didn't ?

  15. how strange!
