Saw the comments in the price increase in 2021 thread and as we near year end, wanted to start a new thread.

hermes historically raises prices in Jan/feb of the new year. Given covid and supply chain constraints as well as increasing demand, does anyone have any intel on the price increase upcoming in 2022?

would be great to discuss across scarves, shoes, bags, fine jewelry and SLGs.

the last couple years have seen a modest increase of 3-5% but 2019 had a 10% increase? Hoping we aren’t in for that again!

Call me crazy, but I do hope Hermes do a 10% increase at a minimum for B/K/C, since chanel is catching up with with Hermes now, a jumbo flap is almost same price as a birkin

and B/K/c are meant to be exclusive so I honestly dont mind a price increase

I cannot follow your argument. For me Hermès does not have to increase their prices for BKC by 10% to be more exclusive than Chanel. Hermès will always be more exclusive just by having the bags hand-stitched which Chanel does not do (sewing machines operated by humans). Also no price increase does not mean that BKC are all of the sudden easier obtainable ;)

I think they would be ill-advised to follow Chanel’s strategy of insane price increases since this would signal that they are more interested in making money than providing high-quality products.

I never followed closely enough but always thought each price increase to be c. 3% and not across the board , so 10-15% sounds extremely high  probably wishful thinking

And not to mention there’s a pre-spend ratio before you get offered a b/k/c. Usually double or even more, so that in itself is way more than 10%.

This is all about inflation of materials/wages/ devaulation of cash currencies... and on top the superior craftsmanship of H and the popular demand of BKC, are more of the reasons for H to increase their price of B/K/C by 10% at least and to me a 10%+ increase is justifiable.

Whatever it is, and I think maybe you have totally misunderstood my earlier post. Hermes is NOT following Chanel strategy. Chanel is the one who is copying (or started to a couple of years back) H's pricing strategy. Anyway I dont like Chanel for the record and am fully aware of their quality when compared to Hermes.
