Price Check Please!! - Is Buying from Overseas a Cheaper Option

Prada are always more expensive in Australia. The best place to start looking are the US Department store websites, ie Neiman Marcus, Saks etc and also Bluefly for the US Price. Is this bag still readily available, or on sale anywhere.
You have to bear in mind though, that if you purchase it overseas you will have to pay shipping and then 10% customs excise and also a customs handling fee and then 10% GST on the top of all that if you purchase something that is over $1000 Australian Dollars!
Usually you will get a crappy exchange rate on your credit card plus a bank overseas transaction fee!!
So usually, even if you get a bargain overseas and have it shipped the good old Australian Goverment (not that we have one at the moment!!) will get you as it comes into the country. This is why imported goods are so much dearer here!
Sometimes though if you get a bag at a really good sale price it is worth purchasing overseas especially if it is under $1000 Australian. For example I just bought an Alexander Wang bag from Revolve on sale at 40% off for $520 US (which was $580 Australian)with free shipping! The bag is currently priced in Australia at $1300.

I think, after having done some research, I am better off purchasing it from DJs.
The DJs I go to has two in stock. If it wasn't the latest season's, I would probably try to buy it from overseas.

At least you have DJ's! I am in Brisbane and DJ's here don't stock Prada. I don't know why because they have whole little mini stores devoted to Dior and Chloe as well as stocking all the other major brands. I always have DJ's gift cards too because I get them with my credit card points and can never find bags I like there! I spent my last lot of gift cards on a vacuum cleaner!!
My closest Prada store is on the Gold Coast and they are aimed pretty much only at the tourist market!
