After a recent trip, I decided that I really want a pretty, practical, and tough small (not mini) leather backpack. I saw a very stylish woman carrying one, and admired how effortless and chic she looked. Sometimes a shoulder or crossbody bag just isn’t the right thing, particularly when I’m carrying water, sunblock and insect repellent, and walking a lot.

I want something minimal, stylish, and strong, and prefer smooshy leather to something very structured. I do not want logos or bling. About 12” x 10” x 4” seems like a good size. I’m interested in black, gray, navy, and/or a light neutral for the spring and summer. Budget is $500 max per bag. I like the pictured one from Cuyana, but have no experience with the brand and am still on the hunt.

Recommendations? TIA!

Hi, I was also interested in this backpack and actually went to the Cuyana store here in San Francisco just a couple of weeks ago to check it out. The leather was very nice, not stiff and it's a nice backpack but it was a little too big for me since I'm only 5'3". Good luck in finding a backpack.

Longchamp’s le Pliage Cuir line has a backpack that is very simple and the leather will be very smooshy. I don’t have the backpack but I have a several-years-old satchel from this line and it’s held up pretty well.

Frye also has a leather backpack. I have no experience with this one at all, but it looks like it would withstand a lot of abuse!02110BED-EE86-4A98-81CE-9671066A8C5B.png7AD20892-81B0-49D0-AB98-64EF985873EB.png
