preordering v. waitlisting for new bags

for those who've done this before - what are the reasons for doing one over the other (preordering v. putting your name on the waitlist)? i'm new to this, and went ahead and preordered when i called about the new season...but i see that many people put their names on the waitlist and are waiting for calls. i'm just waiting for a package, i guess?

yes, that's essentially the difference...
if it's a color i haven't seen in person, i usually do the waitlist...

i would only preorder if it's a really hot color and i am worried that the demand is so high that i may not get that bag if i'm too far down on the waitlist

thanks for the help! and i should clarify, just to be on the safe side - i'm referring to calling in an order to balNY for new season bags.

there seems to be confusion by some who think i may be attempting to buy/sell on this forum via posts, and i just want to be clear. perhaps i'm paranoid...
