Preloved Tweed Moth Prevention

I’ve searched the forum and can’t find that this has been addressed. What would you do when you purchase a tweed bag to prevent moths and for other intake precautions? I’ve sprayed Colonil Carbon Pro on a tweed bag purchased from the boutique and I plan to spray the preloved bag as well. Not knowing the preloved bag’s usage and storage history causes me to want to take extra defensive measures. Freeze? Sunlight for a just few minutes?

With leather bags, I typically go over with a leather cleaning wipe and condition.

Sunlight doesn't do anything against moths, unfortunately. I've put bags, shoes and scarves into sealed plastic bags, and then into the freezer for 4 to 7 days. It seems to work.

I usually quarantine the new item in a sealable bag for a month, which wont kill any moths but will give them time to hatch so I know if the item's infested or not! Could do that after the freezer method. For long-term storage, there are sprays and reports that lavender and cedar wood allegedly deter moths but I've never had any success with those because there are so many breeds of fabric and leather-eating moths and these measures only work for some, but not all of them. Your best bet for guaranteed protection is storage in a moth-proof bag, which you can buy online. Not sure whether tweed needs to 'breathe' in the same way that leather does though
