I’m trying to understand the point of Fashionfile and other sites of pricing preloved items at same price as new retail or even higher than new. Or just $100-200 less than retail. Is Cartier having a shortage of small JUC? Why would I pay more for pre loved? Honestly curious what this is about.

I did some research on a large number of Cartier items and found these are about 90% of retail. The seller has to pay additional fees to the website so they get less than that. In other words buying Cartier is not a too bad investment plus the fun you get out of it.

These items are in high demand, so folks will pay close to retail. When it's literally AT retail, and it's an item like most sizes of JuC that you can buy online, that makes no sense.
Notably, Cartier pieces that are less iconic are going for more like half retail.

Cartier is not having a stock inventory shortage the way VCA is. They do this because too many people don’t bother to check the retail price, or they have a credit at FP and would rather use it there than at Cartier. Personally I would always buy directly from Cartier unless the price was significantly lower—and it should be significant.

If you sell to Fashionfile, you have two options: 1. take the cash or 2. take a store credit worth more. I have only sold there for cash. I believe a lot of people that buy/sell there would take the credit as it is more and then not think twice to pay more using credit they already have. Just a thought... I've wondered the same thing. Unless I had store credit to burn, I would never buy a pre-loved item for more money.

What was your nightmare with FedEx? I hate FedEx and hate that Cartier ships with them.

Long story short, FedEx wasn’t stopping to deliver when it said out for delivery, then said delivery delayed.

I work from home, window looks right out into the front of my house and walkway. Ring doorbell and video cameras.

Two days of Out for Delivery which switched to delivery delayed due to no one being home. FedEx never even drove past my house those two days

Calls to FedEx didn’t help. Cartier could do nothing. If they didn’t deliver on day 3 the item would be sent back to Cartier. Option 2 was FedEx would hold the package for pickup at a facility 45 min away that could only be picked up at a specific time weekday only. This wasn’t an option for me because of work.

Day 3 and FedEx stopped and I ran out the door like a maniac to make sure he didn’t leave. Arms waving and everything

This same issue with FedEx happened to my husband a month prior. We are guessing the driver is overloaded and doesn’t want to take the extra time to stop.

Really deters me from another online Cartier purchase. Happy to stalk Fashionphile in the meantime.

Yup. Sounds like my experience with FedEx. I would always check the status updates and it would always say out for delivery, and nothing. I would have my poor daughter wait while it was delivered since I work 30 min away. She would wait there and no delivery. Then it would update saying delivery delayed. Same thing. I would have to pickup at a facility 30 min away, and when you get there it's not obvious where the door is to go in and get your package. I finally found it and I had to wait like 20 min until they came out with my package. At least it didn't get sent back to Cartier. I hate FedEx.
