I hope I'm posting to appropriate forum. What would be a good/fair, buy/sell price spread for these pre-worn (light to medium worn) Loubies styles? All in nappy shiny leather not patent leather)

So Kate

Pigalle Follies 100

Pigalle 100

Corneille Slingback

I know prices can be all over the place. And it all depends on how much you want a particular style or how quickly you want to make a sale. But just thought I'd ask for opinions. Thanks.

In my opinion, and from my experience shopping , buying and selling on the resale sites(Poshmark, Tradsey, and eBay), those are all desirable styles, but many sellers think they are worth much more than reality....especially used.....I find the So Kate’s are well overpriced because sellers think they are very desirable....in reality, most mortals cannot walk in them, so the purchase is not so much for wearing, but more for just collecting and admiring them....for pre owned, with the original box and no modifications(rubber soles)....in good to excellent condition, I would say will sell easily for around $300....asking more for that will just take much more time waiting for a willing buyer to come along....

the Pigalle Follies are highly desirable but once again over priced on the resale sites...also, often being passed on as a So Kate(probably because seller does not know the difference, or does not have the original box)....once again if in good to excellent condition, no modifications, have original box, will probably fetch around $300, although I have picked up used pairs for around $250.....even got one pair in black patent for $150(yes, they are authentic, not a counterfeit), although that pair was advertised as a So Kates(but I knew from photos that they were the follies-owner did not have box)....

the Pigalle and Corneille are older styles and I think may be harder to sell.....

I think if you are serious about selling, do not overprice them....the resale sites are full of listings that never sell simply because they are way overpriced....I don’t think buyers think there is added value to the shoe because you have worn them...in fact the opposite is true....unless it is a fetish buyer....anyway, my two cents....

having the original box, and not modifying them I think makes them sell faster and for a higher price..

Thanks grtlegs--really appreciate your perspective. I have to admit I need to take another look at some buy/sells I've considered recently based on your thoughts. Your post definitely gives me the 'wider' view of well--reality! Thanks again for your reply--it really helps.

BTW I do see from time to time new/used being like waaayyyy overpriced--several hundred more than what you could buy 'new' at Saks, Niemans, etc!! I once saw So Kates for $900! :yahoo:

Keep in mind, just looking at what the asking price is on the resale sites is not a good indicator of what you should list the item for......you should look at what the sold items sold for......those SoKates that you see listed above the price you can buy from a CL boutique or retail store, never sells...I never understood why anyone would buy from a reseller at a higher price than from a store where you can always go back to if there is a problem.....I also never understood why some resellers would ask for more than the retail price just because it was previously worn by them....go figure.....

also, your knowing the actual style and material(nappa leather, pigalle follies, etc) very helpful......I can’t believe when I see something that sparks my interest, I will ask the seller, what style it is and what material, color or heel height, and they cannot answer...in my opinion, those items never sell, because one simply does not know what they are buying.....some sellers think there are buyers out there willing to shell out several hundred dollars to buy an item they know nothing about....amazing....
