Being an extremely indecisive person, I need help deciding—or at least hearing some different opinions.

I currently only have a rectangular mini in black lambskin. It's lovely but extremely delicate. I've been wanting to get a bag in calfskin so I can use it more on a daily basis. Right now, I’m torn between the Small Boy Bag with silver brushed hardware or the Jumbo with silver hardware.

I can buy the Boy Bag new from the store or buy the Jumbo pre-owned for $5,000 USD. What attracts me to the Boy is that I can get it in-store, and it will be brand new. I love both bags and have always wanted a Boy Bag (I don’t care if it’s “out of style”); it’s cute and looks great worn crossbody. The Jumbo, however, fits so much more and is practical as a day-to-day bag where you don’t have to worry about whether you can fit everything in. My dilemma arises because I also have the YSL Loulou in medium, and in the five years I’ve had it, I haven’t reached for it much. I’m afraid the Jumbo will end up in the same category.

What are your thoughts?

A few questions for you- does your daily necessities fit into the boy bag or would you need to downsize a lot? Is it comfortable to wear and not too boxy or bulky?
Does the jumbo feel comfortable on you and not too heavy after a while?
Why don't you use your medium Lou Lou; is it size, looks or something else?

If you haven’t used the YSL, then get the BOY bag :)

I have both & love both. They’re both fabulous in different ways. The Boy is so practical, crossbody & with the leather thingy on the strap. However, the edges wear easily & there’s not much space. It’s a great look, tho. The jumbo, I’m finding, only gets better with time. It’s so classic & I love having the extra space. After years of caring only the bare minimum to fit in my Boy, it’s wonderful to have space & not stuffed full, I don’t find it that heavy. Love them both, but to me, the Jumbo is 100x more practical.

While both are lovely, I find the jumbo to be just a bit big for the style that it is. When a bag is that big, it looks kind of out of proportion as a flap bag. Although that is only my opinion and it would depend on your frame. If you are tall, perhaps the jumbo would look just fine on you.

Although as I think about it, I still think that Chanel flaps convey conservative elegance, which is incongruous with "I'm carrying everything in this bag" level big. The jumbo is just (imo only) too large for the style that it is.

I also own both bags, and I agree, it's a really, really tough choice. These bags both fill different holes in my collection.... the Jumbo is very classic, elegant and timeless, while the Boy bag is young, fresh and a bit more edgy. I can only recommend to really take a look at your wardrobe, which bag leans more towards your daily style? Also, if you're leaning more towards one bag over the other, definitely go with your heart. I spent years desperately wanting a Jumbo, but ended up going for another style (the Easy Jumbo) that looked very similar, but was at a much cheaper price-point. I instantly regretted it, sold it a few years later, and eventually bought my Jumbo. I should have followed my heart in the first place. Lastly, functionality is important. Choose the bag you think you'll get the most use from, and what you think will be a durable choice for your lifestyle. I recently sold my lambskin Square Mini because I was scared of how delicate it was and bought my caviar Small Boy Bag instead. It's way more suitable to my lifestyle, and will get a lot more use because I won't be so paranoid to use it. I hope some of those points help you make a decision. Let us know what you decide!
