Prada Saffiano of YSL Sac de Jour

Ladies,

I am on the hunt for a new bag. It should be used for work / every day. After a little research I have two favourites now: the Prada Saffiano Lux Double-Zip Tote or the YSL Sac de Jour.

Which one would you pic and why?

I'd probably go for the SDJ. I like the look of smooth or pebbled leather more than Saffiano for a classic piece and depending on the version, the SDJ may be lined with leather or suede, which I prefer.

SDJ as quality is better, plus the design is nicer IMO.

SDJ. That is the only premier designer bag I have been tempted by (except for antigona which I have never seen IRL).

I'm gonna go against (so far) popular opinion and say Prada. It's a classic professional bag, and I think when people think "working woman" they would choose the Prada saffiano as top of mind (that along with of course Hermes birkin).

SDJ. Quality of Prada saffiano totes the past few years is horrible! Several threads hundreds of posts long discussing that in the Prada forum.

SDJ for sure. I see that Prada bag everywhere. The SDJ is classy and beautiful IMO. Good luck deciding!

SDJ. It's a more interesting design and the leather is better. I've had bad experiences with saffiano in the past (not Prada's) and think it looks plastic-y.

I am a hard core Prada loving girl and have two double zip totes that I love. I've never had even a teeny problem with the quality or durability of either despite a good bit of use. I really love those bags.

BUT...that Sac du Jour!!! Yum!!!! It's stunning. It's on my list to get next.

So, I don't think you can go wrong with either. Have you tried them both on in store? They "carry" differently including the obvious that the compartments are different. How you want to use the bag may make your decision for you.

Please post a picture of your new baby when you get her! We'll want too coo, ooh, aah and celebrate!
