I was browsing Prada's website and noticed that some of the enamel logo plaques have studs and some have holes. It's kind of driving me crazy because I use to think that the holes meant it wasn't authentic. The two photos above are detail/close up photos of the Cleo bag taken directly from Prada's website. I thought maybe Prada uses studs for their black bags and holes for their nonblack bags. But then I noticed that all the Cleo mini flap bags have holes. I attached a picture of the Re-Edition bag where the black bag and some of the other colors have studs and then some don't.

The Re Edition with Crystals is really throwing me off. The mango color (teal/green) has studs on both the bag plaque and the zipper pouch plaque. The black one has holes on the bag plaque but studs on the zipper pouch plaque. And then the pineapple (yellow) is reversed with studs on the bag plaque and holes on the zipper pouch plaque.

Is there any rhyme or reason to this? Is the hole/stud choice random?

Interesting observation and no idea, I have never noticed this detail but I don't think any of my prada bags have this sort of logo plaque on them. Will be curious to see if anyone has any insight about this.

Mine don't have the triangle logo plaque either so I didn't notice it either until I was looking at the mini cleo bag with the flap. I know it's such a tiny detail to notice but unfortunately I tend to obsess over things like this haha.

Mine are a mix lol! My 2 nylon items have holes and the rest dont. And my alligator one has none :confused1::lol:

Was holding my baby taking these so excuse the blurry pics and sleep sac in the last one

I’ve always wondered this as well. I noticed it when I purchased my Prada Re Edition. One season had the holes, and the following had the studs. I was going to ask @Prada Psycho about it before; because I figured if anyone would know it’d be her.

Prada does what it wants to do. In this case, my guess would be to throw off counterfeiters. If you're an authenticator worth your salt, you REALLY have to stay on top of details like these. Back in the days of the saffiano tote craze, those drove me insane due to minute details between an authentic bag and a Super Fake.

If this is the reason, it's wild what companies think of to throw off the counterfeiters. There's a shoe brand, can't remember which one, that offsets their logo on their shoe boxes so it's not perfectly centered. Then when the counterfeiters release theirs, they end up perfectly centering the logos on the shoe boxes. I use to think the holes in the enamel plaques mean't it was a replica, but since all the photos I posted came directly from Prada's website, that's clearly not the case here haha.

Hello, that is a very interesting question since I was wondering how to tell. I recently saw a few Prada "repurposed" necklaces on on Ebay. Some of the listings said taken from authentic Prada bags/wallets, etc.. and they were $65, $95, $175 and some did not say repurposed and they were around the $35 range. How would I know if the triangle piece is authentic? I thought the holes were an indicator too.

I don't think there would be any way to tell if those plaques are authentic - only if they're blatantly fake, of course. Authenticators look at many more things besides the holes/studs on the plaques. I'd stay away from those "repurposed" items on eBay.
