Hello all.
Long long time member here who loves VCA and cherishes her small collection. All from Alhambra collection. I have the Alhambra turquoise vintage 5 motif bracelet. Another in mop white gold and the lucky Alhambra in yellow gold. I also have the magic 3 motif earrings in white gold. I’ve diligently collected these over the years but have recently resisted the temptation to add to my collection as lately I am feeling disappointed and disheartened as I see so many fakes around.
What‘s your point of view?

Reactions: A bottle of Red
I was recently at a store with malachite imitations of vca and they were so cheap and plasticky , and they had the nerve to charge over $2,500 for the 'ten motif' that im not even convinced was real gold and real malachite.
I do not think stealing designs from companies is ok, they have created the design, paid for it and the advertising, it is known as theirs and comes with a certain cache .
However, i do wonder if the real pieces are worth what designers charge and I'm not sure.
Don't get me wrong I love my pieces and im so grateful to have them, but in the end they're made with very inexpensive stones and we pay a lot for the brand name.
I think about this with my designer clothes and shoes too. Yes I love my Loro piana mules but are they that much better than another brand for a few hundred ( the LP cost over 1,000)?
Again Im not condoning fakes in any way, just musing that the prices of designer goods doesn't often feel justifiable to me anymore.

Hi there, there’s already an existing lengthy thread discussion about VCA fakes on this thread:

You may find a lot of other people’s responses there in more detail about their thoughts on fakes.

My personal take is I wear my real pieces with joy and pride knowing we worked hard for these pieces and I don’t want to let counterfeits rob me of my joy to enjoy them. From afar they look similar but up close you could always tell the difference in craftsmanship if they are trying to copy it to a T. There are plenty of people wearing fake Cartier but I still love mine all the same. There will always be counterfeits of everything in the market. Do what makes you happy!

I don’t even like the idea of fakes. I hate the idea of people doing weird **** to pieces like taking apart a five motif and making five bracelets. It offends me personally. I don’t care if people think I’m wearing a fake but I dislike destroying a VCA piece. Fake vca pieces makes buying pre-loved a minefield. So aggravating since there are some really beautiful vintage designs that I love. And if people no longer want to keep their piece buying preloved is such a win-win situation. Fakes make that risky.

I have seen a few bad VCA and Cartier fakes. It is obvious that they are fake from a mile away. I feel like ALL luxury brands will always be heavily replicated whether they are jewelry, bags, or shoes. I continue to buy because they make me happy and I enjoy wearing them. If others want to buy replicas, let them. I find it tacky but it’s their decision and it doesn’t bother me one bit.

There is a certain joy from wearing these beautiful pieces. I feel like that joy would be robbed from me if it was a super fake as if I was trying to fool someone and myself.

Thank you for linking to an existing, comprehensive discussion. Closing this as less discussions of counterfeits is better than more!
