possible to dye a Givenchy nightingale?

I'd only send it to a professional like Rago Brothers.

I recently bought an Antigona from Vestiare Collective that had been horribly dyed.
(As an aside, the seller tried to pretend the bag was not dyed but was the original color.
Vestiare Collective refused to acknowledge the condition of the bag in spite of the photos I provided. I finally got my money back through Paypal.)

Anyway, the bag looked awful. Just the worst.
Whatever they used did not take to the leather. It was like a sheer wash of red on parts and bright red paint on other parts. Plus the dye was caked in the seams and all around the hardware. Especially around the Givenchy logo.

Once again, I would send it to someone who professionally dyes designer bags. Not just someone who does shoes because from what I understand they need to use different sorts of dye.

Is your bag damaged and just in need of repair? Or do you not like the color?

Whoaaaa that is crazy! Did you have to send the bag back? And in the pictures on Vestiaire was it in that condition? That's such a horrible story - reinforces the fact that I only buy with paypal online for exceptions like these that are so worth their support!

Glad it worked out for you!

As for dyeing, it really depends on the leather initially. I researched a lot and wanted to do it on a nightingale and gave up on the idea and am selling it as I found my perfect one in black - the risks involved were too high and I didn't want to spend 200$ on the process when someone may just like it as it is and I can put that money towards what I wanted and not waste extra $$$ on something I may not end up being happy with.

If you love the bag, I would say to research dyes extensively and ask a lot of questions if you bring it to someone to do it.

I messaged [email protected] as his website had a lot of before and after pictures and he worked on high end bags (so sorry forgot his website but he responds really fast!)

Good luck and keep us posted!

In Hong Kong, I know there are many bag cleaning specialists which dye designer bags. I had my Balenciaga hobo done years ago and it was well done. I have seen many people have their Chanel and Hermes dyed too. I think if you were going to have your bag dyed or cleaned, it must be done by a specialist not just some random cobbler shops

Wow! Your bag looks great!!! Are you happy with the results? Is there any bleeding of the color or color transfer when you wear it? Please share your process. Would be a great help down to road for other members who may have a sadly faded bag or want to just change colors.

I did it myself! I can't tell you how many friends were aghast that I would attempt dye such an expensive bag. But it turned out well, and I'm really happy with the results.

The process was easy. I used the instructions that the blogger petite pear posted for her balenciaga Pom. If you google her, she has a really great tutorial showing all the steps. I believe she bought two of each dye. I was able to do my medium nightingale with one each with extra left over. Make sure you do it in a well-ventilated room because the penetrating dye does smell.

The color and coverage of the dye looks quite natural. However, the leather did get slightly stiffer, and you lose some of the lovely matte texture of the givenchy leather. Though the more I use it, the more the shine goes away

For color transfer: one thing I did differently was I conditioned it liberally with mink oil paste after all the dye was set. I used a white cloth to buff out all the excess color. This took a lot longer than I expected, but I didn't want color transfer if the bag brushed up against my clothes. When this was done, I was able to avoid all color transfers except when it involved very light colored fabrics and prolonged "rubbing". So it's not perfect, but I'm careful when I'm wearing lighter colors to not wear the bag using the shoulder straps.

I hope this helps!!

I found a better picture of the before and during (after the fiebings dye which is a great base but more brown metallic than black, and before the tarrago dye that really gives a deep rich black) ImageUploadedByPurseForum1400555642.373738.jpgImageUploadedByPurseForum1400555668.164531.jpg

Disgusting that they didnt refund you!! VC is so good and so bad all at the same time. Their customer service IS a nightmare!

Wow nice dye

thank you for you photos. How does it hold up until now?

Oops, I'm so sorry I didn't see this earlier! It's holding up great! I give it a good conditioning with mink oil. There is a tiny bit of color on the cleaning cloth during this process, but I haven't noticed any fading or color transfer during normal use.

Hi, thank you for your reply ;)

Do you follow the step in youtube by first apply the tarrago color dye self-shine kit ( Is it a penetrating dye? ) then apply the Fiebing's leather dye ( which Petitepearstyle mentioned it is the penetrating dye)

Just only this two steps,right?

I have two pandora bags violet (eggplant color) and camel brown, thinking if I should dye them or not especially the purple one because it has got color fade and dirty from the spilled handcream at the bottom of the bag.

Which color do you think it could be the best color for dying ?
