So…ashamed to admit it, but went down the PoshMark Live Show rabbihole last night…and LOVED it.

Got a notification that one of the bags I was watching was going to be auctioned off, so being that I clearly have no life I clicked in and watched and tried to figure out wtf I was doong for a while. But man how exciting!
A couple things went pretty high IMHO, but everything else went low, and there were about 120-140 of us sitting with rapt attention for like an hour and a half.
Most fun I’ve had in a while without spending a ton or eating 200 calories. But I imagine it is specific to the person and stuff being auctioned. Anyone else like these or am I just a desperate fool for interaction? ;)

I’ve never watched…maybe I should try.

You’ve been warned! If you like going to auctions, you’ll love this from your couch. I think the key is finding someone with alot of nice luxury items that you authenticate ahead of time from their closet/tray, since it moves fast. The gal I was watching had a but of everything, mostly bags, a few scarves, some SLGs, and had LV, Gucci, Chanel, Dior, an Hermes, a couple Coach. She also offered replacement straps for some that were damaged with really nice unbranded ones. Truly addicting to watch!

I was wondering where the auctions were on Posh

I got into one one time...I get notification but often they are over when I click on them
Do you go by messages saying there is a live show?
Yeah, usually say a bag you have been watching will be auctioned soon. What I liked was the starting price was quite a bit lower than the price it was listed at, like even lower than I would have offered.

Shows are really divisive in the Posh community. There are two I follow consistently, but I've never tried one of the designer ones because I have major reservations about buying luxury on Posh (it's a different story if you've authenticated the item beforehand of course). I haven't seen a lot of Bal yet come up for auction, the vast majority seems to be LV. But you definitely can get some deals at auction because there is an expectation that you have to start an item low when you put it up for bidding (which is why a lot of sellers hate shows, it encourages a race to the bottom on pricing).

As for notifications, you can get them two ways. If you have liked a specific item, you will get a notification when that item is about to be auctioned off. If you're following someone and they start a live, you also get a notification about that as well.

A lot of sellers really, really hate them. There is a lot of chatter about it in the PM subreddits. The biggest reason for this is the race to the bottom mentality they create with regard to pricing. The vast majority of them are also extremely unprofessional (visibly drunk hosts, dirty or hoarded up looking backgrounds, very young children running around distracting the host). While you have to reach a certain level to get show access, Posh doesn't really enforce any standards with regard to content. A lot of them give off Facebook MLM vibes.

That being said there are some really nice shows out there. My favourite one is run by a professional model who exclusively sells true vintage clothing. But those are few and far between.

Edit - so I don't go too far off the thread's topic, the two luxury shows that seem to be popular are Elliot's Luxury and Bagriculture. I haven't really checked them out myself, but maybe some others familiar with PM can recommend some good ones.

I definitely agree, I popped in and out of several shows today, and couldn’t get out fast enough of most of them. I did stop by Elliott’s though for a while, he was highly entertaining and has alot of quality stuff that he showed.

I love watching Bagriculture's Poshmark LIVE shows! The owner, Anthony, cracks me up. As with any resell site, you should know what you are buying as in know your merchandise. The items they sell span the full spectrum of condition and price. They seem reputable and honest. Poshmark LIVE shows are addicting. There are a lot of sellers, so you just have to find the host that doesn't annoy you. :-P There are other sellers that do LIVE, many people follow Jebwa's shows, they frequently do Mystery Bundles. But, for me the idea of a mystery bundle is too scary. If I'm spending $1K ++ I want to control what I'm getting. Wahleed is another seller that does LIVE shows.
