Hey guys! So I am relocating to a tropical climate and one of my favorite bags is ponyhair and super fragile in general. Any care tips or should I just give up and sell it? Thanks!

I had no idea! Are there other materials that do better in colder or less humid climates?

Moderate climates are better for most skins. Severe humidity is like dampness, which is why so many that have croc, python and live in the tropics need dehumidifiers. Extreme heat or changes in temperature(s) is not good either.

Pony is more susceptible to heat, extreme dryness/dampness the way fur coats are. One also has to be careful of continuous rubbing or creasing too. The bag I'm considering has a flattish front so that's so much the issue, but it's a shoulder bag so I'll need to be careful when carrying.

Obviously, pony/calf-hair can't be repaired or worked-on either.

On the other hand my partner has a calf-hair jacket from 1968, I have Gucci pony jackets and bags more than a decade old and they're fine. IMO, they're like exotics, special but worth it.
