I'm a newbie here, and since deciding to buy a Birkin (if the gods prevail) in May 2010, I am obsessed with worrying about whether I'll be able to get one. I'm interested in the success rate (and not-so-happy endings) of everyone who has been to Paris.

Mods - please let me know if it is okay to post this thread as a poll.

I had found the Paris reading room and loved all the stories! Given all the reveals, I was hoping that there might be more experiences - I find myself addicted to reading every post about FSH and living vicariously through everyone until May. It seems so far away!!!

Pyrexia, dreamdoll - thanks for the advice and thoughts. It's helpful to know that you guys probably have been through this once yourselves and helped all newbies that come to this board through this angst. Must resemble a pattern, after a while, huh?

It does seem pretty much down to luck is the sense I'm getting on this board. I don't know if you guys keep up on all the threads, but both DH and I visited the local H store, it's going to take an act of god or a miracle to get a Birkin here because there seems to be an unofficial waitlist here. The SA we spoke to was extremely nice but realistic.

I guess that I'm pinning my hopes on FSH but I am starting to get prepared for the fact that it may not happen either. DH says that it may take up to a year (or longer) before I may realistically be able to get one. I'm sad. :sad:

Why didn't I think of this when I was living in London when we used to hop to Paris on the Eurostar frequently?! Would you believe that I didn't go into any H boutique once! At that time, we were more about absorbing the culture of Europe and traveling everywhere so that's where my priorities were. Should have added the Birkin into that mix then.

It is never too late to try for one, hope you find what you're looking for, good luck! If anything, there is so much to see / do / eat / shop for in Paris, enjoy the trip!
