Poll: Seasonal Mini- best of mini reissue and classic mini?

Hello everyone,

I have a question for you:

I have been thinking about adding a mini to my collection (black/gold).
I couldn‘t really make up my mind about wanting the classic mini (only two grommets, but lambleather and CC turnlock) or the reissue (four grommets and more ways to wear, but crinkled leather and only metall chain).

So I just contacted a SA - thinking I could snatch up a mini before any further price increase in Europe and just see what‘s in stock- but no mini at all (black/gold) is available. The wonderful SA sent me pictures of a seasonal mini flap instead.

I am not really a fan of seasonal flaps (resell value, maybe going out of style), but I buy to keep and this specific mini flap seems to hit the nail on the head for me.

It looks like the best of both worlds: smooth calf leather -for me even better than lamb-, CC turnlock AND leather chain and four grommets!

....interesting side note: the flap is divided like a Trendy CC or my all time favorite Pochette Metis (I LOVE THAT!)

I, too, was looking for the mini reissue and/or the mini square/rectangular. It seemed impossible to find as I’m quite new to the brand and had no specific SA connections. Long story short, after months of searching and almost giving into the reseller’s mark-up... I finally found my square mini by pure chance! After checking the customer service line every now and then, I always got the “sorry, the xxx is sold out at the moment” reply. And today, I just had a feeling, so I went to the boutique anyway to look at the shoes. I took my chance asking for it and it turned out that someone let go of their “reserved” stock and so it was mine. Just like that. You might get lucky as well so just keep trying. Get the one you REALLY want (with or without price increase). But if you’re in love with this one, by all means, go for it! Good luck!

Bag looks quite close to a mini. The only issue from the picture is the flap looks uneven. I will pass.

Doesn‘t really make my decision any easier that the lambskin seems to be good quality.

I am a little concerned that a lamb mini might end up on my shelf, because its too precious and I am afraid of ruining it in sudden rain or when getting into the car or accidentally bumping into someone.
I am not exactly the going-out-to-dinner and into-the-theatre-person and there are not a lot of weddings to attend - and I say this for normal times even without a world wide pandemic.

The calf of the seasonal would be better for the everyday use/ running errands.

Yes, I see what you mean. I have checked the other photos I got from the SA and the flap is not crooked/uneven. It is just these pictures.

I think you answered your own question. You really seem to love this seasonal, and based on your posts here, it sounds like you would use it more as well. (Personally, i like that this is a little more unique and from a practical stance, the calfskin is more durable.)

Yes I am kinda talking myself out of the classic lamb mini, right?

It’s just that I believe I will still ‘want‘ the classic mini down the road and might kick my future self for not getting it when I had the chance to- and just right before a possible price increase I may add...

So I am trying to be reasonable.

Hi! I am actually interested in the bag too and first time seeing it. I called the Chanel main number and talked to my SA but they said the seasonal was not available anywhere. Did you find yours at a Chanel main store or a store like Bergdorf or Neiman Marcus? Is your store in the US or in Germany?

It sounds like the seasonal has all the features you want...I would say go for it! You are buying to keep anyway so resell value shouldn't be too much of a concern

thank you so much for all your responses to my question and taking part in the voting! TPF is always a great resource and I get a lot of input from all of you!
The poll is not closed yet but as of today there are 27 votes (41, 5%) for the seasonal flap and 38 votes (58, 5%) for classic/reissue mini. That‘s what I expected- to be honest I thought more people would talk me out of the seasonal...


Story time:
I went to the boutique this weekend and I am glad I did (I thought about just doing a shipment). The classic mini wasn‘t for me It was too much of an evening bag for my taste, too small on my frame. I am not saying that I will never buy one , but the seasonal flap absolutely won my heart in real life!

The moveable chain and the four grommets are a huge deal for me. The totally matte super smooth calf leather is so soft to the touch and the compartments in the interior are just the way I like my bags most (like my Coco handle and Pochette Metis). Another plus was the all leather lined interior, which I was surprised to find in a seasonal bag! I was sold

I always examine my my bags meticulously before buying and this little cutie is so well made. Honestly, the edge stitching, the quilting, the interior... I am impressed! You read so much about bad quality and I only own three Chanel bags now. This one is by far the one that looks best -quality wise!

It really has all the features I was looking for. It just ticks all the boxes ...and to hell with resell value, right?!

I am in Germany. It’s from a stand alone boutique inside a department store- if that makes sense . I would never have known about this bag without the wonderful SA, since it is not on the website and I live so far away from a store without the option of going in and just browse around.
After asking for a mini, which wasn’t available at that time, I was offered this one over the phone. It was the only one they had and the only color available. (I found light pink ones in the 21S thread and the ‚what have you seen in store‘ thread). Sorry, I can‘t really help.

Woohoo! So glad you were able to make a decision! And that Seasonal looks AMAZING on you! If you ever change your mind, at least know that the classics are always around (whether you can get your hands on one is another issue!). I agree you made the right decision and like I said before, I love that the seasonal is a little different than the classic!
