Firstly, which size do you need/want.
I suppose I'd go for the J if I wanted the mini as it seems iconic to the brand, otherwise I'd go for the P.
Grand size for Jacquemus (the biggest) and Mini size for Polene
I think what makes the Chiquito stand out is a combination effort of the Jacquemus letter logo, the contrast between the angular body and the curved handle, and design decision to make a singular large top handle over of the flap. However if you look at it from afar, the bag's overall structured trapezoid shape is actually very reminiscent of classic, vintage bag styles. So imo, I feel like as long as you choose a neutral color, such as black, then it won't look as trendy. (Nothing wrong with a pop of color, but it feels like certain shades are very cyclical in the trend/hype sphere.)do you guys think J's grand chiquito is a very trendy bag? that it would look weird on someone that is 50yr old?
Thank you. Your reasonable thinking helped me and I am not even looking to purchase these bags. The only reasons why I chose the Jacquemus is because:
1) I like structured bags
2) I saw a girl carry the small size (I think it's the small size, it was reasonably small, not mini or anything like that) and I thought it looked pretty chic. (Though in the largest size, it probably has a different vibe, and with that very loopy handle, may look a bit much/comical)
3) I like bags with a more secure closure. Therefore usually with a flap or a zip. (but since you're getting it in the smallest size, you'll probably carry it on the top handle so it's less likely to be pick-pocketed)
4) Since you're intending to get the polene in a light color, I am concerned about the handles getting dirty over time (unless you wrap them of course)
I have not seen anyone carry the polene in person so I'm not sure.
I think it's very much a personal preference thing.
The jacquemus is very structured (and does have the name on the bag so a big logo-y).
The polene is more relaxed and understated.
Perhaps, considering your wardrobe and current bag collection:
1) Do you tend to reach for more structured or more relaxed bag sillouettes?
2) Is your wardrobe more relaxed/casual or is more "put-together"/dressed up? (I honestly thing both bags work in either setting, it's just more of what look you're going for).
3) Do you like tiny bags or big bags?
Hope that helps! Happy shopping!![]()
I think the stiff handle of the J would become annoying after a while.
It's attached to the flap which can make opening it awkward.
